There are many books out there written by cops from large cities like New York or Los Angeles, but most Police Officers in this country work in Small Town U.S.A. where they know everybody and everybody knows them. Captain Black: True Stories of a Small Town Cop is a book about life as a small town cop in Kaufman, Texas, which is located about 30 miles southeast of Dallas. From the story of a little old lady with a dead mouse in the wall to the murder of the town’s well-known crackhead, you will laugh, cry, or maybe both at these honest stories about a real small town cop and the crazy crap that happens to him.

I have worked in Kaufman, Texas as a police officer for more than 20 years and have always wanted to write a book about the things that have happened to me during my career. I have never wanted to be a “big city” cop where you are just a number. I love working in a small town where I know most everyone and they know me. I started out as a Reserve (volunteer) Officer and worked my way up through the ranks to the position of Captain, which I hold now. I tried to connect with the reader as if I were talking to them face to face. This is my first book and I hope it’s the beginning of a new world for me and my family. We’ll see!
