From Ice and Snow is a sequel to the fictional memoir, The Protest. Jane Bernard lost her 12-year-old daughters to a religious hijacking perpetrated by their father, Rev. Logan Churlick. Heartbroken and embittered by the loss, Jane jeopardizes her happy marriage with her great love, Bolivar Bernard. When the twins are 18, Bekah reaches out to her mother, but her twin sister Darcy spurns Jane and now wants nothing to do with Bekah. Churlick thwarts Jane’s attempt to reunite with Darcy, and fueled by Bekah’s allegiance with her mother, his obsession to possess Jane grows more twisted. Will Churlick be successful in keeping Jane and Bekah from reconnecting with Darcy? Will Jane regain her daughters only to lose Bolivar? Will the strategy Jane sees as her only chance to save the marriage she has all but destroyed work?

My greatest writing achievement came out of my deepest sorrow. When I lost my daughters to a religious hijacking (ages 10 and 12), I was driven to write about it. I thought it was the only story in me — but I was wrong. From Ice and Snow had to be written to satisfy readers who wanted to know what happened to me and my daughters.
As a writer, I aim to create a better understanding of the world and our place in it by shedding light on dark places. Some of my works take you to those dark places. They make you think, they shed light, they even entertain, while they offer solace to those who need it.
