Dangerous Secrets, Loving Lies…
Finally free of her abusive past, photographer Whitney Sheffield’s job is her life and she wants to keep it that way. But a desperate call from her dying sister begging Whitney to rescue her three-year-old daughter from her dangerous father changes everything. Finally tracking down Rhys Gannon, the child’s father, Whitney’s not surprised to find him at a biker bar in northern Arizona. But her plan to photograph Gannon dealing drugs backfires when he sees her taking pictures. On the spot, she makes up a story…because if he knew why she’s really there, she may never see her niece…
Rhys Gannon will do anything to protect SaraJane from her unstable mother. He’s suspicious of anyone who doesn’t live in the small town where he’s caring for the child…even the sexy photographer who says she’s there taking photographs for a national magazine. He’s intrigued by more than her job, but he’s not stupid. She’s cut from the same cloth as his rich and pampered ex-wife… and off limits in every possible way. But SaraJane really likes the woman. Damned if he doesn’t, too. And when the sparks of attraction between Rhys and Whitney ignite…there’s no turning back.
Except Whitney’s sister wasn’t the only one with secrets. Whitney and Rhys have secrets of their own. And someone is going to get hurt.

I grew up in Minnesota where I spent many long, cold winters making up stories, dreaming about becoming a writer, and traveling the world. But saner people urged me to attend the University of Minnesota where I studied behavioral science…and later, after a move to Arizona, I earned a degree in journalism from Arizona State University. Since then, I’ve worked in a plethora of jobs from social services to magazine editor, and teaching novel writing at Bootcamp for Novelists…and I’ve been writing lots of books. Nineteen novels, with over a million sold worldwide in over a dozen different languages. I also wrote and co-wrote two non-fiction books on how to write a novel.
Since my first sale in 1999, my books have won several awards, including the Daphne du Maurier Award of Excellence, and most recently, the Holt Medallion Award of Merit. I love to read thrillers, suspense, mystery and romance, and I try to write the types of books I like to read, complex, compelling stories with deep characterization…the kind you think about long after turning the last page. I write to entertain, but if I can enrich a few lives along the way, all the better.
When not writing or spending time with my family, I love to travel, take photographs, play tennis, and spend a bunch of time researching my books. Or I’ll grab my camera and head for a hike in the Arizona mountains, the best place on the planet to dream up new stories…and marvel that someone actually pays me to have so much fun.
