Imagine riding horses in the early days of the San Francisco Bay Area. Maddie finds adventure, romance, and an ancient tribal mystery in the midst of the beginning of the California Gold Rush of 1849, the California Dons, and the tragic Donner Party. You will fall in love with Maddie and Huck as the beauty of the land, and extraordinary events refine their characters and devotion to each other. Vididly told and slyly educational.

Daniel Stuhlman wrote this story after his uncle told him his great uncle was a Pilgrim of the Pacific and came out West to California with the Bidwell Bartleson Party in 1841. Daniel rode the hills of the Carizzo Plains on his grandfather’s ranch as a child. He spent most of his adult life in Northern Idaho and retired from the woods industry.
