Old Letters and New Demons is a novel of the combined genres, Historic and Speculative for an adult audience. In 1928 Harry Crosby shot his girlfriend and two hours later he killed himself. They were found fully clothed with their shoes off and their toe nails painted red. After that incident, Hary’s wife Caress, moved to Bowling Green Virginia to an estate known as Hampton Manor. you can see the photo’s from Life magazine in which she is there with Salvador Dali. From there she wrote pornography for Henry Miller. she invented the brazier and tried to get paper back books published in the U.S. and was turned down.
In 1983 John and Julia Gavis dug up their father, killed by their brother along with their mother. This was about ten miles away from Hampton Manor. When they were arrested for disinterment of a human body, John and Julia had bread wrappers on their feet and hands to keep the demons away.
When Greg Singleton moves to Bowling Green he finds something that alters his goals and ambitions and he begins a long journey into a lifestyle he can’t do anything about.
The characters don’t blow themselves up in the first few chapters, their demise is a well crafted train wreck built out of history and mystery with words that nail down the track over time.
An excerpt of this novel was published in RambleFish magazine in the December 2017 addition. This is my first novel and I wrote it kind of in rebellion to so many New York Times best sellers where the detective drinks too much pining over his lost love and the only thing that keeps him going is catching the bad guy. I wanted to break the formula writing that is so pervasive in our world and deliver a good product that is unique and hopefully stays with the reader more than five minutes.
