Alison Knight was born in Manchester. She graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in English and subsequently completed a research degree on Henry James from the University of Manchester. She was lured to Melbourne in 1983 with the promise of pavlovas, endless sunny days and the prompt removal of huntsman spiders.
Formerly an English teacher, she is now active in community theatre as a writer, director and actor. President and Publicity Manager of a local theatre company, she can also be found Front of House, slapping paint on sets or lurking in the wings as assistant stage manager.
Alison has gained a number of awards and commendations for her plays and short stories. She writes in a wide variety of styles, from quirky comedies to darker psychological dramas. Her son told her he’d love to read a novel written by his mum. She has now obliged with the psychological mystery, “Peter Stone”.
