Interview With Author Aman Kumar/Gautam
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a writer who focuses on emotional, real-life stories—especially around love, relationships, and the complexity of human behavior. I like exploring characters deeply rather than relying on fantasy or exaggerated drama. So far, I’ve been working on multiple stories, with one major novel in progress that I’m fully committed to finishing.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest work is Adhuri Dhadkane. It’s inspired by real emotions, broken relationships, and the kind of love that isn’t perfect but still feels real. I wanted to write something that people can actually relate to, not just read and forget.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I usually write late at night. That’s when everything feels quieter and more honest. Sometimes I listen to music that matches the mood of the scene, and I often rewrite the same paragraph multiple times until it feels right.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m more influenced by emotional storytelling than specific big names. Writers who focus on realism, pain, love, and human psychology inspire me the most. I like stories that feel personal, like they could happen in real life.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m working on continuing Zakhm-e-Pinhaan, building deeper character arcs and making sure every chapter connects emotionally. I’m also exploring ideas for future stories, but this one is my main focus.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly, organic promotion works best. Platforms like Instagram and Facebook help if you share real thoughts, short excerpts, and connect with people instead of just posting ads. Storytelling itself becomes the promotion.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t wait for perfection. Start writing, even if it feels messy. Most people never finish because they overthink. Also, write what you genuinely feel, not what you think will sell.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Write the story you would want to read.”
That changed everything for me because it removes pressure and makes writing more honest.
What are you reading now?
I usually read emotional and character-driven stories. Right now, I’m exploring books that focus on relationships and human psychology rather than fast-paced plots.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Finishing Zakhm-e-Pinhaan properly is my priority. After that, I want to build more stories in the same realistic space and slowly create a strong identity as a writer.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d take a mix—
A deeply emotional novel (for connection)
A philosophical book (for thinking)
A light, comforting story (for balance)
And maybe one book I’ve already read and loved, just to revisit it differently
