Interview With Author Ankit Ambastha
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am Ankit Ambastha, an author hailing from Lohardaga, Jharkhand. I have always been fascinated by how stories can capture the hidden depths of human emotions. To date, I have written two books that explore the complexities of the human mind and identity.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled “Aksh: The Reflection.” The inspiration came from observing the dual lives people often lead—the difference between the face we show the world and the “reflection” that only we know.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I prefer writing during the quietest hours of the night. I often listen to ambient sounds to set the mood for my scenes, as it helps me visualize the setting of my stories more vividly before I write them down.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been greatly influenced by the storytelling of Agatha Christie and Stephen King. Their ability to build tension and create unexpected twists is something I admire and try to bring into my own writing style.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on a very special project titled “Incomplete love Story” (An Unfinished Love Story). It is a shift from my previous psychological themes, as it dives deep into the raw, poignant emotions of incomplete love.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I find that connecting directly with readers through Instagram and platforms like Goodreads works best. Local news features and author interview sites like IndieView are also fantastic for reaching people who truly appreciate new literature.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t wait for the “perfect” moment to start. Just write. Even if it’s just one page a day, progress is progress. Your unique voice—especially coming from a place like Lohardaga—is what will make your story stand out.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“You can’t edit a blank page.” This keeps me going even when I feel stuck.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading a mix of contemporary romance and classic thrillers to balance the themes I am working on for my upcoming book.
What’s next for you as a writer?
My next goal is to finish “Incomplete Love Story” and share it with my readers. Ultimately, I want to establish a strong literary presence for authors from Jharkhand on a global level.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would take The Shining by Stephen King, And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides, and a thick diary to write my own next novel.
