Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written two rhyming bedtime stories named Ann Can’t Sleep and Ann Plays Dress-up, and my partner and I recently published an 11 books series named Like a Girl.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Our 11 books series Like a Girl, which is about introducing young girls with inspiring and importsnt professions.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am a cartoonist by profession, so I “build” my books the way you would create an animated cartoon or a comic book, starting with sketches of the general stories.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have been very influenced by Philip Pullman, both his Dar Materials series and his earlier Sally Lockhart Mysteries. I love his way of inserting social issues into juvenile fiction. Our books however are for a much younger audience.
What are you working on now?
Now we’re busy promoting out Like a Girl series, and we have vague plans to follow up with another similar collection.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Booksprout has been very effective for us in getting reviews, which has given our online sales a significant push.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Hear everyone out and do what you think.
What are you reading now?
Stephen Fry’s Mythos and Heroes.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’d like to write some more stories in verse.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
That question is way too cruel ๐
