Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a science fiction writer, however, I write what ever my brain torments me with. I just love writing stories and entertaining people with all the fantasy worlds or daring adventures my mind comes up with. I love writing poetry about nature or whatever is happening in my life at the moment. Reading books of course, is my favorite pass time but writing stories is my passion and I just released my first novel Wynter Of Wolves. I find a lot of inspiration for my work from my home state of North Carolina. Originally a Tennessee girl, I fell in love with the mountains, the local folklore and the artistic culture of the Blue Ridge Mountains. As a writer I am inspired by my surroundings and my fellow authors and dreamers. Edgar Allan Poe has always been an intriguing poet dear to my heart as well as other poets of the past. I enjoy meeting new authors, book lovers and fans on my social medias. Outside of writing, I love exploring nature, spending time with my family and entertaining my two cats, Ruth and Idgie. I have written at least 3 full novels with only one published so far and the other two will be published soon.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Wynter Of Wolves is my first published novel. It’s official release was 03/20/2020. The inspiration for this novel came from a dream that I had back in 2018. I told my husband about it and he encouraged me to write it. He loved the idea so much that he couldn’t just let me forget about it. So I wrote it down and revisited the idea in 2019 and I fell in love with the character Wynter and his origin story. The story became bigger than I could have ever first imagined it to be. So big in fact a second novel is in the works for Wynter.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if it is unusual but I write with headphones on, streaming a playlist that inspires me to write my characters and special scenes they are in. I like to imagine my stories as movies so I find cinematic music to inspire me.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are many books and authors that I have read that have inspired me my whole life. Stephen King, Anne Rice, Edgar Allan Poe, Alfred Hitchcock, Jane Campion, Jane Austin, William Golding, Harper Lee and so many more.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on Wynter Of Wolves: The Seven. It is part two of my newly released novel, Wynter Of Wolves.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are really helpful at getting the word out to bigger audiences. I am new to social medias but I am finding more and more websites that are dedicated to helping self published authors, such as my self, to realize their dreams of seeing their books out in the public.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I would say to them to never give up on your dreams. Authors hear a lot of harsh words about their writing style or abilities. Surround your self with authors, friends or family that will encourage you to seek out you dreams.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never allow people’s negativity or negative words to paralyze you. After I heard someone say that, I never allowed anyone to make me feel less than the author that I truly am.
What are you reading now?
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to finish my new novel by the end of the year and I hope to meet new fans at my book signing at the Fan boy expo in Knoxville TN, July 11th. I also have many more novels to come and I am excited to share them with the world.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
That’s a tough one… The Piano by Jane Campion, To kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin, The society of S. By Susan Hubbard
