About Battle of the Bands by Ryan Oliver
Four seventh-grade boys — a wild-card drummer, a bassist who’d rather not be noticed, a keyboardist worried about his older brother, and a class clown who wants to lead — accidentally start a band eight weeks before their district’s Battle of the Bands. None of them have ever played together. None of them are sure they even like each other yet. What follows is a story about showing up for each other on the hard days, not just the good ones — and about how the wrong notes are sometimes just practice on the way to the right ones.

Author Bio:
Ryan Oliver was once in a garage band that never quite made it past someone’s actual garage, which taught him most of what he knows about four kids trying to figure out how to play together without falling apart. He’s been a lifelong rock enthusiast ever since — possibly because of the band, possibly despite it. When he’s not writing other people’s stories for a living, he’s working on his own. Battle of the Bands is his first novel under his own name.
