About Birthright by Kim Fedyk
Arleth, a 17 year old slave in a backwater world, has no idea her life is about to be turned upside down.
She is too busy trying to avoid the abuse from her owner Bella. But when the legendary king of Oherra comes to Tocarra, Arleth soon finds herself being chased by assassins, sought out by spies and smack dab in the middle of a decades long war.
It soon becomes clear to Arleth that powerful forces are at play. Not everyone is who they seem, even those she wants to trust the most. Haunted by an ancient magic, Arleth must decide who she can trust and fast. The wrong choice would cost her the ultimate price – a fate worse than death – to end up as an enchantment. A hollowed out shell of a person; devoid of thought, consciousness and feeling.
That’s if the birthright she’s completely unaware of doesn’t kill her first.
My name is Kim and I live in Ontario, Canada. The land of roll up the rim; the Toronto Blue Jays; and now unfortunately, the never ending lockdown.
I have been known to have many talents, such as finishing an entire bag of chips in one sitting. I’m also pretty good at conjuring up an excited voice to read the same book to my toddler for the 100th time.
When I’m not stuffing my face with chippy goodness, I love hitting a baseball out of the park or tracking down a long fly ball.
While writing this book, I wanted to create a cohesive set of worlds that had a rich history. I strongly believe that a reader is more engaged and enthralled by the story when there is a well developed universe. I believe with Birthright, I have excelled at this promise to myself. I have also given readers a host of exciting characters, plot twists, and unique magical creatures. Ever heard of a Garrupi, Talywag, Greken or Imari? Didn’t think so. Pick up my book; you will be glad you did!
