Bryce Ackerman, a young banker, returns home from a business trip to Vienna expecting to marry his beloved Aimée. But she is pregnant. This is 1872 and Bryce is a Victorian gentleman who doesn’t believe in sex before marriage. Aimée is distraught. So-called officers & gentlemen, visitors to her home, have been running a competition to see which regiment’s junior officers could rape the most young women.
Her family carefully seek out the violated girls, offering aid & support. Bryce, for personal reasons as well as being outraged at what the men have done, attempts to chase down the officers. They have returned to their regiments in India.
Bryce follows them, intent on revenge for Aimée, and justice for all, but it is no easy task. The officers will do anything to escape retribution, & Bryce has to survive in the exotic & erotic atmosphere of India. It is a task which tests his values & his honour as he seeks justice for all.

p.d.r. lindsay wrote her first ‘novel’ aged seven, an attempt to persuade her parents to buy her a pony! It didn’t work, but she’d discovered that writing and reading were an escape from her unhappy family life. She could create people who loved her and wonderful imaginative places to escape to in her mind. Poetry was her first love, then, for her children, stories and plays, and finally stories from her adult imagination for herself and adult readers.
p.d.r. lindsay prefers historical stories for novels because she finds she can say things to readers in historical settings which readers might not accept in modern settings. She likes her readers to enjoy the company of her characters, and think about the situations they find themselves in. She also loves to travel and find unusual settings for her stories, and then
research to find a kernel of fact to grow her stories from.
