Interview With Author Edouard Prisse
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a fully independent author who writes about macro-economic errors, particularly those made by Bill Clinton regarding free trade with China, along with the consequences of these errors and what the West can and should do about them. I have a range of diverse disciplines at my disposal, including 1. a legal MA, 2. a business MBA from INSEAD, 3. a mathematical ease for difficult theories like Keynesian economic theory, and 4. a lifelong political interest in power structures. These, together, allow me to see clearly where others only see a part. I have written four books about the erroneous free trade we have with China.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It is called “Sleeping with the Enemy: What the White House Still Misses on China.” It is inspired by my prediction in 2003 that the US would be making China powerful with its money and, in consequence, that its industry would lose out to China’s low production costs.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No. I just try to be clear, to explain complicated things that are being ignored in normal, easily readable language.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
That is a long list. For literature, La Divina Commedia by Dante Alighieri, Le Fil de l’epée by Charles de Gaulle, and The Second World War by Winston Churchill. For this subject, The General Theory of Employment by John Maynard Keynes, Modern Economics by Jan Pen, and No Trade is Free by Robert E. Lighthizer.
What are you working on now?
I am working on getting my book and insights read in the US.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
It is having engaged a publicist, Nanda Dyssou at Coriolis.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes. Never give up.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be less afraid of doing something wrong (I needed that). Forget influence by others.
What are you reading now?
I am back to reading the explanation of Keynes’ theory by Jan Pen, as well as rereading Charles de Gaulle. Lovely French.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I do not have a next. I am too old for that. This is it.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
