Interview With Author EUN JIN LEE
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I didn’t begin writing because I wanted to become an author. I began writing because I wanted children to know God’s love. Every book I create is a prayer that one more child will discover that God is worthy of our greatest love.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is **The Last Words Your Mother Left for You**, a heartfelt story about a mother’s enduring love, faith, and hope that continues to guide her child even after she is gone.
The inspiration came from a simple question: **What are the words we would want our children to remember for the rest of their lives?** I wanted to write a story that would comfort readers, strengthen their faith, and remind them that love rooted in God never ends.
Alongside this book, I continue writing my **10-book Ten Commandments Picture Book Series**, helping children and families discover God’s love through engaging stories, meaningful conversations, and practical faith lessons.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think my writing habits are unusual, but I do have one routine that I rarely skip.
Before I consider a story finished, I ask myself one simple question: **”Will this help someone know God a little more or love Him a little more?”**
If the answer is no, I keep revising. I often rewrite scenes, prayers, or conversations many times until they feel warm, encouraging, and easy for families to read together.
For me, writing is not just about finishing a book—it’s about creating something that can strengthen faith and bring families closer to God.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
More than any individual author, the **Bible** has had the greatest influence on my writing.
Its stories, wisdom, and message of God’s love continue to inspire everything I create. I especially hope to present biblical truth in a way that is warm, understandable, and meaningful for both children and families.
I have also been encouraged by many Christian writers and storytellers whose work points people toward faith, hope, and God’s love. Their examples remind me that stories can do more than entertain—they can encourage hearts and strengthen faith.
What are you working on now?
I’m continuing to expand The Ten Commandments Picture Book Series while also creating books that help both children and adults experience God’s love through meaningful stories.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
For me, the most meaningful way to promote my books is not through advertising alone, but by building genuine connections with readers.
I enjoy sharing encouraging stories, short videos, and behind-the-scenes moments on YouTube and Instagram, while inviting readers to explore my books through my Amazon Author Page.
I also appreciate opportunities to participate in book promotion websites during special free promotions, because they help new readers discover my work.
Above all, I believe that a heartfelt recommendation or an honest reader review is one of the most valuable ways a book can reach another family.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t focus only on publishing a book—focus on writing something that truly matters.
Trends change, algorithms change, and marketing strategies change. But a story that genuinely encourages, comforts, or helps someone can have a lasting impact.
Keep learning, keep improving, and don’t be discouraged if success doesn’t come overnight. Every book teaches you something new.
Most importantly, write with a purpose that is greater than yourself. For me, that purpose is helping children and families know God, love Him, and grow in faith together. I believe readers can recognize when a book is written with genuine love and care.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever heard is:
**”Write something that will still matter years from now.”**
That simple idea has stayed with me every time I begin a new project.
Instead of chasing trends or writing only what is popular today, I try to create stories that encourage faith, strengthen families, and point readers toward God’s love.
If a child remembers God’s love because of one of my books, or if a family grows closer to God after reading together, then I believe the book has fulfilled its purpose.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I spend most of my reading time in the **Bible**.
Each time I read it, I discover something new about God’s character, His love, and the way He works in people’s lives. Those truths continue to shape both my faith and my writing.
I also enjoy reading Christian books and children’s literature that encourage faith, kindness, and meaningful family conversations. They inspire me to become a better storyteller and to create books that point readers toward God’s love.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to continue creating books that help children and families know God more deeply and grow together in faith.
I’m continuing to expand my Christian picture book collection while also writing stories for older readers that offer hope, encouragement, and a deeper understanding of God’s love.
My prayer is that every new book will become more than just something to read—it will become something that encourages conversations, strengthens faith, and reminds people that God is always with them.
As long as God gives me the opportunity, I hope to keep writing stories that point people to Him.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I could only take four books with me, my first choice would always be the **Bible**. I never reach the end of what I can learn from it, and I believe it would continue to give me hope, wisdom, and encouragement no matter where I was.
I would also bring a collection of Christian classics that help me grow in faith and keep my focus on God.
Finally, I would choose a few children’s picture books—not only because I enjoy writing them, but because they remind me that profound truths can often be shared through simple stories.
Those four books would remind me of what matters most: faith, hope, love, and the joy of sharing God’s truth with others.
