Anthony Delstretto grew up in an ethnically diverse Detroit neighborhood in the 1950s. As a result, Anthony never lost sight of his Italian roots, which led him to eventually discover relatives in Italy he never knew he had and ultimately acquire dual Italian-USA citizenship for himself and his family.
Delstretto’s interest in the land of his ancestors led him to research the history of the Kingdom of Italy, 1861- 1945. That information and meeting his cousins in northern Italy served as the author’s inspiration in 2018 to write a fictional portrait of an Italian family caught up in the dangers and hardships of those tumultuous times. “The Last Italian: A Saga in Three Parts” honors not only the incredible resiliency of the people of Italy but diverse cultures everywhere that stubbornly defy the unpredictable turns of history and fate.
Anthony graduated from the University of California and went into school administration. This trilogy is his first work of historical fiction. Delstretto and his wife now live in the northwest.
