Interview With Author Jose Quinones
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Jose Quinones is a dad of five and the founder of Zaynyg World, a family-built brand making faith-filled kids' books, comics, and clothing. His Bible Heroes series and the 8-book Jesus saga retell Scripture with humor, heart, and reverence, written to be read aloud at bedtime. He also created Kingdom Comics, an imprint where every panel points to the King.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My 8-book Jesus saga, which retells the life of Jesus in eight volumes for kids and adult-faith readers. It was inspired by reading Scripture aloud at bedtime to my five kids — I wanted stories that keep them glued while staying true to the Bible.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Every manuscript gets a bedtime read-aloud test: if my five kids stay glued to the story, it passes. If anyone drifts off, that page gets rewritten.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The Bible first — its stories shape everything I make. C.S. Lewis, for showing that faith can be an adventure story, and all the great picture-book authors I read aloud every night to my kids.
What are you working on now?
Expanding the Kingdom Comics imprint — new panels in the STAR CLASH / OVERDUE universe — plus the next volumes of the Jesus saga and new No Way Jose kids' books.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My own websites and social channels, plus real-life family read-alouds. Word of mouth from parents and kids' ministries has been our strongest engine.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write the book your own family needs. Build a small, consistent audience first — one bedtime reader who begs for the next chapter is worth more than a hundred casual clicks.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write the book you wish existed — and finish it. Done beats perfect every time.
What are you reading now?
The Bible with my kids every night, plus comics scripts and storyboards for the next Kingdom Comics release.
What’s next for you as a writer?
More Kingdom Comics titles, new volumes of the Jesus saga, and growing Zaynyg World into a go-to home for faith-filled family stories.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, The Chronicles of Narnia, Pilgrim's Progress, and a big sketchbook so I could keep drawing comics.
