Interview With Author KAUSHAL KISHORE
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Retd DGM of NABARD, the apex bank for agricultural and rural development in India.
He is M.Sc., CAIIB, CFA(ICFAI), FRM (GARP), and a Harvard Management Mentor. He has experience in Finance, Project Finance, ALM, Risk Management, Microcredit, and Institutional Development.
Although he has been reading the Ancient Scriptures from childhood, he has devoted himself to the study of the Vedas, Upanishads, Purana, Mahabharata, and other scriptures since he retired in 2020. His passion is to identify and present “Ancient wisdom for the benefit of modern men.”
He is authoring books and writing popular blogs for this purpose. He has written eleven books in English and twelve books in Hindi.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “Mysteries of Vedas: Five keys for decoding”.
I have devoted myself to study of the Rigveda since 2020. Almost all translated books differ from each other. They highlight the ritualistic use, and prayers as the main theme. This has led to very redundant and mysterious meanings. I am applying specific scientific tools to translate and understand the Rigveda. I decided to share those keys, which provide much more clarity, and can be used by all. So, I have presented mysteries and keys in the book.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Even while reading the ancient scriptures, I think analytically and rationally. Thus, my effort is to find clarity in the mysterious elements. I do not accept differing meanings, that have been used by most translators of the Vedas and Upanishads. Moreover, my effort in reading is to complete a full chapter, Suktas to get the wider connected meanings of all Richas.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
“The Secret of Vedas” by Maharshi Aurobindo and the collected works of Vivekananda in respect of reading the ancient scriptures.
I have also read several books on finance and Risk Management recently. Books like “The black Swan” by Nassim Taleb have also influenced me.
What are you working on now?
I am currently translating the Rigveda, applying my own keys as presented in “Mysteries of Vedas: five keys for decoding”. I am next presenting the true meaning of “Aswini Kumar” in a book form.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My website is https://www.kaushal-kishore.com. I am also advertising on Amazon.com to promote my books.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read more, depend less on second-hand research.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I had done nothing for the promotion of my books, assuming that they would sell themselves. My mentor said that one must make an effort to reach every such person who would benefit from the book. Otherwise, my writing would become meaningless. So, I have decided to promote my books now.
What are you reading now?
I am reading the Rigveda.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am going to write six books on the least understood Devatas described in the Rigveda. Next, will present meaning Mandala and subject wise.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Besides the Rigveda by two authors, “The Secret of Vedas” by Aurobindo, my own books on Brahm Vidyas, the best spiritual meditation narrated in Upanishads.
