About Loose Chippings by Jason Crager
Loose Chippings, a one time mining center long past its glory days. Now, just an off the grid, little known town on the Alaskan frontier. The kind of place outsiders rarely visit. A place without the political influence and corruptions of the lower states. The perfect town for ex-Confederate soldier Jack Fargo to settle down and escape the baggage of his former self.
For Kelly Collins, a Missouri woman with legal troubles of her own to leave behind, Loose Chippings is only a temporary stop on her way to a future that had been denied her. She plans to make due until the opportunity arises for her to leave Loose Chippings and get away from Jack Fargo.
It doesn’t take long for them to find that beneath the surface, there’s much more to Loose Chippings than what there appears to be. After a well known villager is murdered and the skeletons in his closet come back to haunt him, Jack is forced to take on a position he doesn’t want. He comes in contact with a boy called Pana and is introduced to a world of Inuit folklore. As hidden agendas and destinies are revealed, all secrets lead back to the abandoned mines and Jack must choose which things are worth fighting for, and Kelly may be the deciding factor.
