Interview With Author Meet kapuria
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an aviation writer with a passion for exploring the history, technology, and innovation behind the world’s most remarkable aircraft. My work focuses on making aviation stories engaging and accessible, blending clear explanations with captivating narratives.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is “SR‑71 Blackbird: The Fastest Jet Ever Built.” I was inspired to write it by my lifelong fascination with aviation history and technology. The Blackbird has always stood out as a symbol of speed, innovation, and human ingenuity. I wanted to capture that excitement and share it with readers in a way that is both engaging and accessible, so they can experience the thrill of one of the most remarkable aircraft ever created.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
One unusual habit I have is that I often write while surrounded by aviation documentaries or aircraft photos. It helps me stay inspired and keeps the atmosphere connected to the subject I’m working on. I also tend to jot down ideas at odd hours — sometimes late at night when a thought about aviation history or technology suddenly strikes me. These small quirks keep my writing authentic and full of energy.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been influenced by authors who bring history and technology to life in a way that feels both educational and exciting. Writers like Richard Graham (SR‑71 Revealed) and Ben Rich (Skunk Works) showed me how aviation stories can be told with passion and detail, while still being accessible to general readers. I also admire works in broader military and technology history that highlight human ingenuity behind machines. These books inspired me to write in a style that blends storytelling with clear explanations, so readers not only learn about aviation but also feel the thrill of discovery.
What are you working on now?
Currently working on a book called ‘U-2 Spy plane’ which is based on history and technology
behind U-2 aircraft.

What’s next for you as a writer?
As a writer, my next step is to continue exploring aviation history and technology through new projects. I plan to expand into books that highlight other legendary aircraft, breakthroughs in aerospace engineering, and the stories of the people behind these machines. My goal is to build a series that not only entertains but also educates readers about the fascinating world of flight. I also want to experiment with activity and coloring books inspired by aviation themes, making the subject fun and engaging for younger audiences.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded on a desert island, I would bring books that inspire, teach, and keep me connected to the world of aviation and human ingenuity. My choices would be:
“Skunk Works” by Ben Rich – for its incredible behind‑the‑scenes look at aerospace innovation.
“SR‑71 Revealed” by Richard Graham – a fascinating account of pilots and missions that shaped aviation history.
“The Wright Brothers” by David McCullough – to remind me of the origins of flight and the spirit of invention.
“Apollo 13” by Jeffrey Kluger & James Lovell – a story of resilience and problem‑solving under extreme pressure.
These books would keep me inspired, motivated, and connected to the extraordinary achievements of aviation and space exploration.
