Interview With Author Meghan J. Villatoro
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an author and the founder of Restore Amor, where I help Christian women build stronger marriages through Online Courses and Marriage Coaching. Sanctifying Love is my first book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my book is Sanctifying Love, which means a love that is set apart and holy. I chose this title because, as Christians, we are called to love our spouse in a Christlike way, and that's the purpose of this book: to help wives pray for a more selfless and Christlike love in their marriages.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I typically write with headphones on to tune out all the noise in my house and often have at least one kid on my lap while I'm at the computer trying to write.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My favorite author is Charles Spurgeon, he has such a way of expressing himself that you walk away feeling both convicted and inspired. Elisabeth Elliot is a close second. Tim Keller's book The Meaning of Marriage is one I have read so many times and always learn something new from. I also love John MacArthur's writing, but obviously, the greatest influence on my own book is the Bible.
What are you working on now?
I'm in the final stages of completing a workbook-style book on conflict and communication in marriage. It's scheduled to be released in May.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I'm still trying to figure that out! I have my book going up on a few different sites, so we'll see.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don't get overwhelmed or let fear stop you from writing your book. I did that for far too long.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don't worry about what anyone else thinks; follow what God is leading you to do.
What are you reading now?
I always have a few books going at once. I have been really into Colleen Cobble books lately, and I'm also just starting Guarding Your Heart by A.W. Pink.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Keep promoting Sanctifying Love, and finish up my next book.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Oh that's a hard one, but for sure my Bible, Morning and Evening by Charles Spurgeon, and Let Me be a Woman by Elisabeth Elliot. I'd probably bring one non-fiction book too, not sure what but a thriller with a great twist at the end.
