Interview With Author Neo Shadowfall
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written five books so far. Outside of writing, I enjoy going hiking and listening to music—it’s something I do a lot. I’m an author, of course, though I’ll admit I don’t read very often, which might seem a bit unusual. Other than that, I keep things pretty simple.”
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Chamber of Horrors. It was inspired by my own struggles with fear. I deal with fear quite a bit, and I wanted to take that feeling and turn it into something creative by putting it into a story.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to write best when I’m completely alone in a quiet environment. I also have a bit of a routine—I usually need to listen to music beforehand to get into the right mindset. Most of my writing happens at a creek not too far from my house, which helps me focus and stay inspired
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I don’t read very often, so I wouldn’t say I’ve been heavily influenced by many books. However, my fiancée has been a big inspiration for me to start writing. If I had to name one series, I’d say After by Anna Todd has had some influence as well
What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m working on multiple books. Two of them are prequels, and I also have a standalone project I’m developing. That one focuses on themes of power and transformation, which is something I’ve been really interested in exploring through my writing.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My main method for promoting my books has usually been YouTube, where I share content and connect with viewers. More recently, I’ve also started using Reddit, which has been helpful for reaching new audiences and getting feedback from different communities.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice to new authors is simple: don’t give up. One day, you’ll make it. And even if things don’t go exactly how you planned, you still published a book—you still created something and accomplished something meaningful with your life. That alone is worth being proud of, so keep going no matter what.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever heard is to never give up, no matter what. Even when things start to go wrong or life gets difficult, you keep going anyway. That mindset applies to everything in life, not just writing. It’s something that’s helped me push through a lot, even with the challenges I’m currently dealing with.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m not reading anything. I don’t really read, and I’ve been too focused on working on my next books to pick anything up. That said, I do have to admit that writing has slowly made me more interested in actually starting to read more in the future.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Hopefully, the next step for me as a writer is to become a bestseller. I want to keep creating and publishing more books, continuing to grow as an author. And maybe one day, I’d love to see one of my stories turned into a movie
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded on a desert island and could only bring a few books, I’d probably choose the first three books from the After series by Anna Todd. For my fourth book, I’d bring one of the books written by my fiancée, who is also an author. It would be something personal and meaningful to me while I’m away.
