Interview With Author Nia Kas
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, I’m Nia Kas! I’ve been crafting wild, unpredictable love stories for nearly three years, and to date, I have written over 21 webnovels, primarily focusing on high-drama billionaire romance. I’ve always been drawn to the messy, chaotic side of fiction—the kind of stories where readers truly never know what to expect. Pride’s Claim is my official debut into the world of published pitch-black dark romance and reverse harem. It’s the first book in my Seven Deadly Sins series, and it marks a darker, sharper turn in my writing journey where I get to fully dive into corruption, high stakes, and morally grey characters who refuse to play by the rules.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Pride’s Claim, and it’s the first book in my Seven Deadly Sins series!
The idea just slammed into me one day, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it: What would happen—and how would readers feel—about a main character who is shared by seven literal demons?As a writer who loves messy, crazy drama, I knew I had to find out.
I wanted to see how a regular woman would survive that kind of intense, pitch-black situation, and how readers would react to a ‘why choose’ dynamic taken to the absolute extreme. I didn’t want a fragile heroine who just breaks. I wanted someone who fights back and laughs in their faces. It’s wild, it’s chaotic, and it’s definitely not your typical safe love story.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
“Oh, absolutely, I am a total ‘pantser’—meaning I write completely by the seat of my pants.
Once an idea takes hold of my brain, I just sit down and start typing. I have a habit of completely skipping outlines, character bios, or world-building lists. Instead, I create everything, the characters, the plot twists, the chaos on the spot as I write.
If I get surprised by a sudden twist while typing, I know my readers are going to be hyperventilating when they read it. It’s a wild way to write, but it keeps the energy high and ensures the story is never predictable.”
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My influences are a bit of a wild mix! Growing up, I devoured Sidney Sheldon, Mark Twain, and Nancy Drew detective stories, which definitely planted the seeds for my love of mystery, high stakes, and tension.
But what actually pushed me to start writing was an interactive mystery video game called Duskwood. It used real actors and realistic elements, and I became completely obsessed. One day, I was bored out of my mind waiting for the next episode to drop, so I wandered onto Wattpad to read fanfiction. When the writers there stopped updating, I got frustrated and thought, ‘Fine, I’ll just write my own!’ That choice completely snowballed, and I haven’t stopped writing since. It taught me how to write stories that keep readers on the edge of their seats, waiting for the next twist.
What are you working on now?
I’m staying super busy! Right now, my absolute main focus is finishing the rest of the Seven Deadly Sins series so readers don’t have to wait too long to see what the other six demons do with Raven. But because my brain never stops turning out new ideas on the spot, I’m also working on another standalone pitch-black romance, as well as a few more messy, high-drama billionaire romances. I love bouncing between different worlds, so there is definitely a lot of chaotic, unpredictable drama coming from me very soon!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
To be completely honest, I don’t have a secret method yet because I am brand new to the marketing side of things and learning as I go! Up until now, I’ve spent all my energy purely focused on the writing. But right now, my main strategy is leveraging Kindle Unlimited and running free book promotions to get my stories directly into the hands of voracious readers. I’m also diving into the community side of things on platforms like TikTok to connect with fellow dark romance fans. It’s a learning curve, but I’m excited to figure out what works best for my specific brand of messy, crazy drama
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My biggest piece of advice is to write for your own excitement first. If what you are writing doesn’t make your heart race or get you excited when you read it back, then scrap it and try again. Writing shouldn’t feel like a chore; it has to be something you genuinely love to do, and a story you are dying to share with the world. Readers can instantly feel your energy on the page. If you are obsessed with your own messy, crazy characters, your audience will be too.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Honestly, I have never really gotten any advice! I’ve always walked to the beat of my own drum. I trust my gut, write what makes me happy, and forge my own path
What are you reading now?
My own stories! Since I write completely on the spot without an outline, I’m always reading back through my own manuscripts to see what crazy twists my brain came up with next.
What’s next for you as a writer?
To just keep writing more amazing, chaotic stories! My goal is to keep pushing boundaries, surprising my readers, and expanding the Seven Deadly Sins universe.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would definitely bring anything by Mark Twain to keep me entertained, and absolutely The Swiss Family Robinson—it feels like the perfect survival guide for a desert island
