Interview With Author Priya Hutner

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I grew up on an ashram led by a charismatic Brooklyn housewife turned guru. I’ve met hundreds of spiritual teachers, meditated over 10,000 hours and participated in some bizarre spiritual rituals to attain enlightenment.

These days I am non-fiction writer and author living in the mountains near Lake Tahoe. I’m also a private chef and own The Seasoned Sage catering company. Cooking is a like a meditation for me and supports my creative life.

As a writer, passionate about literary arts and music, I cofounded the Tahoe Literary Festival, which celebrates the literary arts. The event offers a platform for authors, poets and songwriters to share their work and talents. I also understand the importance of recognizing and supporting emerging authors.

I’ve just completed my first book, Chasing Nirvana: A Seeker’s Story of Love, Loss and Liberation. The memoir chronicles my epic quest to attain liberation, my devotion to a charismatic female guru, and my eventual journey to break free from the cult-like spiritual ashram I was raised in.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Chasing Nirvana: A Seeker’s Story of Love, Loss and Liberation was initially born out of a need to heal. A personal awakening and the decision to leave my guru and spiritual community after 25 years was the catalyst to write my first book. My exit from the ashram was both traumatic and terrifying. After leaving, I lost everything, my connection to my teacher, family, friends, and community, writing was a way to process the heartache, pain and grief I experienced. I also lost the certainty I had in my life, my purpose as everything I once believed was shattered. It took many years to become whole again.

Eventually, the book took on a life of its own. I wanted it to read like an adventure story. The story explores themes of giving up one’s power, seeking answers outside the self, and finding the courage to walk away from what no longer served me at any cost. I touch upon the complexities of belief, family allegiance, spiritual entrapment, and unfurling myself from the bondage of belief.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am not sure that my writing habits are unusual- being outdoors and exercising in the mountains every day is imperative for me. It turns out this is where many of my ideas emerge for story. Tahoe is an awe-inspiring place that lends itself to creativity. Whether I am on a hike, out biking, or skiing, being in the outdoors allows me to get quiet and step into the stillness of nature that fosters my creativity. I tend to write in my head while I am wandering in the woods or hiking up a hill. Often, I have to stop, pull out my phone and record the ideas that arise to keep them from dissipating into the air. My morning writing routine is generally fueled by coffee and the computer. An evening routine might include an occasional bourbon on a dark winter night and lying on my daybed with my computer writing.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
These questions always tend to throw me. I read a lot, and there are so many great authors and amazing books I’ve read that have shaped me from a young child until this minute. Patti Smith’s Just Kids, was one of my favorite memoirs-I can’t wait to dive into her new book, Bread of Angels. Mary Karr’s The Liars Club, Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential, and Stephen King’s On Writing were early influences. Mark Nepo’s Drinking from the River of Light and Ram Dass’ Walking Each Other Home: Conversations on Loving and Dying offered words of wisdom while my father was dying.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on the release and launch of Chasing Nirvana. (Who knew that you’d need to become a book marketer after you write a book!) I have several writing projects I am working on, including a cookbook series and a memoir based on my years as a private chef. I am also preparing to send out the call for readers for the Truckee Literary Crawl on April 10-11. It’s a great opportunity for new and emerging authors to get seen. Apparently, there are not enough hours in the day…

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Self-promotion is tough. I use social media, my website, and my literary channels to support my book. My background in marketing is also helpful. What I think is most important is connecting with people in my community, the literary world and networking with the people I meet through my work with Tahoe Literary Festival. I think this is key to laying authentic groundwork and helping with support my efforts with my book. I love networking and supporting other authors; it is exciting and creates new relationships and connections. I also make time for speaking engagements. A wise person in the publishing industry once told me say “Yes” to everything and as many opportunities that arise.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be fearless, allow for the creativity to flow and don’t give up your dream. Listen and keep learning. Allow for the stream of consciousness in your writing to fall onto the page and edit later. There are often pearls that arise in the flow.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write because you love the craft. Write what you know. And have fun on the journey.

What are you reading now?
My book queue is a bit unwieldy at the moment. At the moment the following books are being read, James, Percival Everett, Animal Bodies, Suzanne Roberts, A Girl Within a Girl, Nanda Reddy, The Lost Piece, Kim Danielson and Maybe a Note Would Help, Kristen Tremonti. I am definitely a mood reader, so often I have several books going at once. Some are timely for reviews and some are for pleasure. And then I cozy in before bed and read something light.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Promoting my book and more writing. Storytelling is important to me. I am planning several speaking events around Chasing Nirvana’s launch. I am also looking for a home to publish my next book projects. My journey living in a spiritual ashram was unique and shaped who I am. Freeing myself from the belief systems and conditioning, a challenge, I’ve had to reinvent myself after leaving and that has helped me stay present, stay in the moment and also look to the future. I continue to explore new opportunities in my life as a writer.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Wow, that’s hard. I usually ask the question in relation to food (probably sushi in my case). But books -I think I’d bring books I’ve yet to read. Carl Hiaasen to make me laugh, Emily Henry for fun, Rick Rubin to contemplate, and Heather McCollum to escape. I think I’d need a book on 100 ways to survive on a desert island- seems like that would be an important book to have on hand.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is “THE MEMORY THIEF”

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do, actually. I write with music playing but not just any music. I match playlists to the emotional tone of the scene I’m working on. If it’s a heartbreak moment, I’ll loop soft piano or ambient rain sounds. If it’s a romantic breakthrough, I’ll switch to soul or acoustic love songs. It’s like scoring a movie in real time. Also, I tend to write dialogue out loud first almost like rehearsing a play because I want it to sound natural and alive. And sometimes, I bake while brainstorming. There’s something about kneading dough that helps me untangle plot knots.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been shaped by authors who write with emotional honesty and cultural depth. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Half of a Yellow Sun taught me the power of layered storytelling and how silence can speak louder than dialogue. Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist reminded me that purpose often hides in detours. I also draw strength from Toni Morrison’s work her prose is both poetic and piercing, and she showed me that writing can be both beautiful and brave. More recently, Ayọ̀bámi Adébáyọ̀’s Stay With Me influenced how I approach vulnerability in fiction. These voices gave me permission to write stories like Hearts in the Oven where healing, heritage, and heartache all share the same page.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice to new authors is simple: write boldly, edit patiently, and publish bravely. Don’t wait for perfection wait for honesty. The most compelling stories aren’t flawless, they’re fearless. Protect your writing time like it’s sacred, because it is. Read widely, especially outside your genre. And most importantly, trust your voice. You don’t need permission to be a writer you just need persistence.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever heard is: ‘Write what breaks you, then write what heals you.’ It taught me that storytelling isn’t just about entertainment it’s about truth. As a writer, I’ve learned that the most meaningful stories come from the places we’re afraid to revisit. But when we do, we don’t just create fiction we create connection. That advice shaped Hearts in the Oven, and it continues to guide every word I write.

What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading stories that challenge me emotionally and creatively. I’ve been revisiting The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho it’s a reminder that every journey, even the uncertain ones, carries purpose. I’m also exploring The Art of Character by David Corbett to deepen my understanding of how to build emotionally rich protagonists. And I’ve started reading Stay With Me by Ayọ̀bámi Adébáyọ̀, which beautifully captures the tension between tradition and personal desire. Each book is teaching me something new about storytelling, about humanity, and about myself as a writer.

What’s next for you as a writer?
LooGrowth. I’m diving deeper into stories that explore healing, identity, and the quiet power of everyday love. Hearts in the Oven was just the beginning it taught me how words can nourish and restore. Now, I’m working on my next novel, which will stretch me emotionally and creatively. I’m also building my publishing brand on Amazon, mentoring new writers, and creating space for African stories to thrive globally. The goal isn’t just to write books it’s to build bridges through storytelling.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded on a desert island and could only bring 3 or 4 books, I’d choose stories that feed both the soul and the craft. First, I’d take The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho a reminder that every journey has meaning, even the ones that feel like detours. Second, Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott, because her wisdom on writing and life would keep me sane and inspired. Third, Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie for its emotional depth, cultural resonance, and masterful storytelling. And finally, I’d bring my own book, Hearts in the Oven not out of vanity, but to remind myself of where I started, and the stories still waiting to be told.

I’m Anndy Lian, a Singapore-based investor, advisor, and author at the intersection of technology, finance, and innovation. With a career spanning digital transformation, blockchain, and Web3, I’ve worked with startups, governments, and global organizations to help navigate the future of technology and value. I’m also a frequent speaker and commentator on fintech, cryptocurrency, and the evolving digital economy.

I have co-authored or authored three books to date:

1) Blockchain Revolution

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Discovering Singapore By Chance, co-authored with Jenny Zheng.

It was inspired by her journey as a foreigner who chose Singapore not by birth, but through connection and curiosity. Her fresh, outsider’s perspective made me see my own country in a new light—beyond policies and statistics, as a living, evolving story shaped by people, culture, and innovation.

We wanted to capture Singapore not as a textbook case, but as a personal discovery—layered, dynamic, and deeply human. The book blends her emotional journey with my insider’s knowledge, creating a narrative that’s both intimate and insightful. It’s about how a place can surprise you, change you, and eventually feel like home.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
One of my most unusual writing habits is that I rarely start by typing. Instead, I speak my ideas out loud—often into my phone—like I’m explaining them to a friend. I call it voice-to-text thinking. Whether I’m walking, sitting quietly, or even right after a meeting, I record myself freely for five to ten minutes, just letting the thoughts flow.

This method captures the raw energy of my ideas before they get polished or over-edited. Later, I convert the audio into text and refine it. It may seem odd to some, but for me, talking is how I think most clearly. I don’t write best at a desk—I write best on my feet, speaking honestly and spontaneously.

Another unusual trait: I don’t write books from start to finish. I write fragments—whatever feels urgent or inspired at the moment. A memory, a recent conversation, or a strong opinion can become a standalone section. Only later do I piece them together like a puzzle.

So yes, my process might not be traditional—but it’s authentic. I write with my voice first, and my pen later.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Several authors and books have shaped my thinking, but one stands out clearly: Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. That book changed how I viewed money, assets, and financial freedom. It taught me that true wealth comes from financial literacy and mindset, not just hard work or a high salary. Its simple, story-driven style showed me the power of making complex ideas accessible—a principle I carry into all my own writing.

Ultimately, I’m drawn to writers who don’t just inform, but transform—those who challenge assumptions and open new ways of thinking. Their work inspires me to do the same: to write not just to be read, but to make a difference.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on my next book, focused on Web4—the next evolution of the internet. While Web3 brought decentralization and digital ownership through blockchain, I believe Web4 will go further by integrating artificial intelligence, ambient computing, and immersive digital ecosystems into everyday life.

This new phase isn’t just about technology—it’s about seamless, intelligent interaction between humans and machines, where context, personalization, and proactive systems redefine how we live, work, and create. My book will explore what Web4 means for identity, privacy, business, creativity, and society, offering clear insights and practical guidance for those preparing to navigate this shift.

Just as I did with blockchain and NFTs, my goal is to demystify Web4—making it understandable and relevant for everyone, not just tech insiders. The project is deeply personal and builds on all I’ve learned from my previous books. I aim to release it within the next year, as a roadmap for the next decade of digital transformation.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My strongest platform for promoting my books is X (formerly Twitter).

It’s where I’ve built a highly engaged audience in the tech, blockchain, and Web3 space. The real-time, conversational nature of X allows me to share insights, quotes, and behind-the-scenes thoughts about my writing process in a way that feels authentic and immediate. I often post short threads explaining key ideas from my books—like NFT use cases or the future of Web4—which spark discussions and drive interest.

What works best is not just announcing the book, but living the content daily. By consistently sharing value-driven perspectives, I position the books not as products, but as natural extensions of a larger conversation. Readers follow the ideas first—and then the book becomes a resource they want to explore.

X also connects me directly with creators, investors, and readers who reshare, comment, and ask questions—creating organic reach. For NFT: From Zero to Hero, many sales came directly from viral threads and community engagement on this platform.

So while I use LinkedIn, podcasts, and events, X remains my most effective tool—not just for promotion, but for building trust and momentum one tweet at a time.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes, here’s my advice for new authors:

Start before you feel ready. You don’t need to be an expert, famous, or perfect—you just need to have a message worth sharing. The best writing comes from clarity and authenticity, not credentials.

Write for one person, not everyone. Imagine you’re explaining your idea to a friend who’s curious but not an expert. Keep it simple, relatable, and human. If you try to please all readers, you’ll end up connecting with none.

Consistency beats inspiration. Don’t wait for the “perfect moment” or a burst of creativity. Write in small chunks—10 minutes a day, a voice note, a single paragraph. Over time, these pieces add up.

Your first draft is not your final message. It’s okay if it’s messy. Just get the ideas out. Editing is where the magic happens.

Use platforms to practice. Before writing a book, share your ideas on social media—X, LinkedIn, blogs. See what resonates. Feedback from real readers is the best guide.

Don’t write to impress. Write to make a difference. If your words help just one person understand something new or feel less alone, you’ve succeeded.

And finally, finish what you start. So many people begin a book but never complete it. Push through the doubt. The world needs your voice—not someone else’s copy, but your truth.

Write with purpose. Share with courage. The rest will follow.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever heard is: “Don’t wait to be ready. Start where you are.”

So many people hold back because they feel they don’t know enough, aren’t famous enough, or don’t have the perfect plan. I used to feel that way too. But this one line changed everything for me.

When I started speaking about blockchain to governments, I wasn’t the most experienced. When I wrote my first book, I wasn’t a celebrity author. But I had something valuable—a clear message, real passion, and a willingness to begin.

By starting before I felt ready, I learned faster, built credibility through action, and connected with people who were on the same journey.

That advice applies to writing, innovation, and life. You don’t need perfect conditions. You just need to begin—with what you know, who you are, and the tools in front of you.

Because readiness isn’t a starting point. It’s the result of starting.

What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading books and research papers on artificial intelligence, ambient computing, and the future of digital identity—all in preparation for my upcoming book on Web4.

I’m diving into how AI is reshaping human-technology interaction, especially in smart environments where devices anticipate our needs without explicit commands. I’m also exploring works on decentralized identity, privacy in immersive ecosystems, and the convergence of physical and digital realities.

While I’m not reading much fiction at the moment, I do follow thought leaders like Yuval Noah Harari, Peter Diamandis, and Kai-Fu Lee for their insights on technology and society. Their work helps me frame the bigger picture—how these changes affect not just systems, but people.

So my current reading list is research-heavy, future-focused, and deeply curious. Every book, article, or paper feeds into the next chapter—of my writing, and of the world we’re building.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to keep writing—blending technology, storytelling, and human insight. I may explore fiction in the metaverse space one day, or a deeper personal reflection on innovation in Asia. But for now, my mission remains clear: to help people understand the future, not fear it.

So what’s next? More writing, more thinking, more connecting. And hopefully, more books that inspire readers to see the world differently—and shape what comes next.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Pious Nnamdi Enwereonu, a Minister of God, Author, Speaker, Detective, and Advocate for Intelligence and Mental Health. I have served in the Nigeria Police Force for over two decades, with experience spanning surveillance, operations, administration, and digital safety. My passion for human potential, mental wellness, and truth-seeking has shaped both my service and my writing.

I have authored four books so far:

1. The Intelligent Madman: How to Live a Healthy Life after Experiencing Mental Illness (Schizophrenia) – A reflective and empowering guide for people affected by schizophrenia.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The title of my latest book is The Law of Integrative Intelligence: Unlocking Human Potential Through Synthesis.

The inspiration for writing it came when I observed a growing number of online search engine queries around the term “Integrative Intelligence.” It became clear that people were seeking a deeper understanding of how different aspects of intelligence—such as emotional, analytical, spiritual, and cognitive—work together in solving life’s challenges.

That realization sparked something in me. I felt compelled to define and explore this concept not just theoretically, but neurocognitively, philosophically, and spiritually, drawing on both recent scientific findings and my own lived experience. This book offers a unique and expansive approach to understanding how human beings can synthesize their capacities to navigate complexity and live more meaningfully.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes, I do have some rather unconventional writing habits. One of them is that I often experience a state of deep mental immersion, where I become so focused on writing that time seems to disappear. In such moments, I can pour out chapters in one sitting, especially when the message feels spiritually or intellectually urgent.

Another unique habit of mine is that a single quote or aphorism can birth an entire article or even a book chapter. I often begin by writing short philosophical or spiritual reflections, and then expand them into deeper explorations with practical, psychological, or theological relevance.

I also tend to write in bursts of divine inspiration, often late at night or in the early hours of the morning when my mind is most attuned to both inner guidance and deep reflection.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The most profound influence on my life and writing has been the Bible. It has shaped my worldview, values, and understanding of the human mind, purpose, and spiritual intelligence.

Beyond the Bible, I’ve been inspired by a wide range of thought leaders whose works touch on personal growth, psychology, mental resilience, and strategic thinking. Notable among them are:

Tony Robbins – especially Awaken the Giant Within and Unlimited Power, which opened my mind to the power of decision and mental reprogramming.

Joe Dispenza – You Are the Placebo helped deepen my interest in neuroplasticity and the intersection between belief and biology.

Napoleon Hill – Think and Grow Rich laid the foundation for my understanding of goal-setting and the power of thought.

George S. Clason – The Richest Man in Babylon taught me timeless principles of financial wisdom and discipline.

Jehovah’s Witnesses’ publication Mankind’s Search for God helped broaden my appreciation for spiritual inquiry across cultures.

Daniel Goleman – Emotional Intelligence and Social Intelligence deeply influenced my exploration into how emotional and social skills relate to mental health.

Robert Greene – The 48 Laws of Power gave me critical insight into human behavior and influence.

Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret introduced me to the idea of the law of attraction, which I filtered through a more spiritually discerning lens.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a new book titled Thought Intelligence: The 21 Pillars of Superior Thinking. This work delves into the architecture of thought itself—how individuals can refine their mental processes to achieve clarity, decisiveness, resilience, and purpose-driven results in an increasingly complex world.

The book aims to provide readers with 21 core principles that underpin what I call “thought intelligence,” integrating insights from neuroscience, philosophy, mental health, faith, and lived experience.

In addition to this, I’m also developing an academic paper focused on adaptive achievement and neurocognitive flexibility, a concept I’ve named the Pious Universal Law of Extrapolation (PULE). I use my Facebook profile and Facebook author page to engage directly with readers through quotes, insights, and book updates. WhatsApp is also effective, especially for grassroots sharing, direct communication, and community engagement.

On the professional side, I utilize LinkedIn to reach an audience interested in my work on intelligence, mental health, and forensic investigation. I also publish thoughtful essays and excerpts from my books on Medium, which helps to reach readers who appreciate deeper reflections on life, mental resilience, and personal growth.

Rather than relying solely on one platform, I find that a multi-platform approach—each tailored to a specific audience—works best for both visibility and impact.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes, absolutely. My advice to new authors is simple but profound: Start where you are, use what you have, and keep growing.

Many aspiring writers wait for the “perfect time,” the “perfect publisher,” or the “perfect manuscript.” But progress begins when you take action with what you already know. Perfection is not the starting point—commitment is.

Also, don’t underestimate the power of your unique voice. The world is saturated with content, but authenticity stands out. Your story, perspective, or insight could be exactly what someone needs to read to find healing, direction, or courage.

Understand that writing is as much a mental and emotional journey as it is a creative one. There will be obstacles—fear of rejection, self-doubt, or financial constraints—but keep going. Learn from feedback. Embrace criticism with humility. Celebrate progress, no matter how small.

Lastly, remember: Your words have power. Use them wisely. Use them to serve. Use them to uplift.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever heard is found in the Bible book of Isaiah 30:15:

“Your strength will be in keeping calm and showing trust.”

1. The Bible — My ultimate source of spiritual direction, comfort, and wisdom. It anchors me, reminds me of divine purpose, and connects me to the highest power beyond circumstances.

2. Unlimited Power by Tony Robbins — A masterwork on personal empowerment and human potential. It would keep me mentally sharp and remind me that I still have the power to choose how I respond to my situation.

3. You Are the Placebo by Dr. Joe Dispenza — This book shows how the mind and belief can influence the body and change one’s internal reality—vital knowledge for staying healthy and resilient in isolation.

4. Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life by Brian Tracy — A brilliant guide on reprogramming thought patterns and unlocking inner success. On a desert island, clarity of thought would be as crucial as food and shelter.

Interview With Author Viktor Tonchev

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Viktor Tonchev, and I am a science fiction author driven by a passion for exploring the unknown. I’ve always been fascinated by the mysteries of the cosmos, the rise of artificial intelligence, and the philosophical questions surrounding humanity’s origins.
I have written one full-length novel so far — Return to Sirius — a deeply personal and visionary work that blends hard science fiction with themes of ethics, survival, and the enduring power of memory. The story follows a forgotten civilization whose last hope for survival lies in a spaceship bound for Earth — and two children born from artificial wombs, destined to carry on its legacy.
This is my debut novel, but it is only the beginning. I am already working on the next installment.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is Return to Sirius. It was inspired by my lifelong fascination with the idea that humanity might not have originated on Earth. I’ve always been drawn to stories that blend science with philosophy, and I wanted to explore what it would mean if our true origins were interstellar.
The idea came from pondering ancient myths, the mystery of lost civilizations, and the rapid rise of technology in our modern world. What if we are not the first advanced species on this planet? What if our past is connected to the stars — and we’ve simply forgotten?
Return to Sirius became my way of weaving these questions into a story that is both speculative and deeply human.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if it’s unusual, but I tend to write late at night — often after midnight — when the world is quiet and feels a little more like outer space. That silence helps me enter the mindset of my characters and immerse myself in distant worlds.
Another habit I have is creating full background dossiers for even minor characters — their past, their beliefs, their fears — even if most of it never appears in the book. It helps me write them as real people, not just tools for the plot.
I also keep a notebook near my bed because many of my best ideas come in dreams or just as I’m falling asleep.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
One of my earliest influences was Jules Verne. As a child, his stories sparked my imagination and gave me a love for adventure, exploration, and the power of science. Books like Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth were my first glimpse into what science fiction could be.
Later, I was deeply inspired by authors who brought more philosophical depth to the genre. Arthur C. Clarke, especially Childhood’s End and 2001: A Space Odyssey, made me realize that science fiction can ask the biggest questions about human existence and our place in the cosmos.
Isaac Asimov’s structured logic and ethical exploration in the Foundation and Robot series influenced the way I think about technology and responsibility. Stanisław Lem, especially Solaris, taught me that not all answers are knowable—and sometimes the most profound stories are the ones that leave us with questions.
More recently, Liu Cixin’s Three-Body Problem trilogy impressed me with its scope, imagination, and bold scientific extrapolation.
All of them shaped the way I write and think. For me, science fiction isn’t just about the future — it’s about discovering deeper truths through imagined realities.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on the sequel to Return to Sirius. The story follows the descendants of the Eleans, born and raised on Earth, as they embark on a bold interstellar journey back to the Sirius system.
This new installment explores not only the fate of Elea, but also the deeper question: what does it mean to return “home” when home is a myth, a memory… or a warning.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon KDP is my primary publishing platform, offering global reach and access to a wide audience.
Social media also plays a key role. I focus on building an active presence on Facebook and engaging with sci-fi reader groups, where word-of-mouth recommendations often generate the most genuine interest.
In the end, consistency, patience, and a personal connection with readers prove far more valuable than any paid promotional site.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write the story only you can tell. Don’t chase trends—chase truth. Even in science fiction or fantasy, the heart of a good book is always something deeply human.
Be patient with your progress, and don’t be afraid to rewrite. Editing is where the real magic happens. Publishing is a journey, not a race. Stay consistent, believe in your message, and don’t underestimate the power of even one reader being moved by your words.
Above all — keep writing. The world needs stories like yours.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Write what makes you feel something—even if it scares you.”
That advice changed the way I approach storytelling. The most powerful writing often comes from the place where honesty meets vulnerability. If a scene gives you chills or brings a tear to your eye, chances are it will resonate with others too.
Authenticity is what stays with readers long after they finish the book.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. I admire how he blends scientific accuracy with emotional depth. It’s a great reminder that even in space, the most compelling stories are always about human connection and survival.

What’s next for you as a writer?
After the sequel to Return to Sirius, I plan to expand the universe I’ve created—possibly into a full trilogy. I’m also developing a new standalone science fiction novel that blends mystery, technology, and philosophical questions — set in the present day.
My goal is to keep telling stories that challenge perspectives and inspire a sense of wonder.

If I were stranded on a desert island, I would choose books that offer inspiration, wisdom, and a sense of adventure:

Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe – the ultimate survival story and a timeless guide to resilience and adaptation.

Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson – for its adventurous spirit, pirate lore, and the thrill of searching for something greater.

2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke – for its philosophical depth and visionary outlook on humanity’s place in the universe.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir – a modern tale of ingenuity, isolation, and hope against impossible odds.

These books would keep my mind sharp, my imagination alive, and my spirit strong — even in the loneliest of places.

Interview With Author KP Roberson

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Funny story. While I have written two full novels, they are the equivalent to three books. The second book in my Between the Birches Trilogy has been completely rewritten. It was scheduled to be released this year, but my previous publisher went kablooey, so here I am back on the self-pub path. They say third time is a charm. I’m hoping it is! Outside of my obsession with this debut, I’ve partially written a handful of other books. They all contain some amount of romance or romantic elements. Apparently, I have difficulty writing a story without people smooshing faces.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The inspiration behind my Between the Birches Trilogy came after rewatching the Twilight movies with my spouse. Basically, the thought was, “If Stephanie Myer can write this stuff, so can I!” While my story doesn’t include vampires or the dense forest in the Pacific Northwest, it does have horror, which is my favorite genre, and takes place in the lower Appalachian mountains where I call home. As someone who lived a very reserved, very sheltered life until recently, my stepping outside the cage into a world of magic and other wonders played a large role in who my characters are. Basically, they are the stages of my own personal awakening.

Awakening and Harbinger are the first two books in the trilogy.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My most unusual writing habit would be the tendency to write chronologically and out of order at the same time. Meaning, I start at the beginning and record events in ‘real time,’ but sometimes a thought appears after I’ve already written a part. I’m constantly going back to copy and paste it at the beginning of the paragraph or rewriting it to fit. It’s annoying, really.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
In high school, I read a ton of Edgar Allan Poe and R.L. Stine Fear street novels. Stephen King’s novels were too intimidating for my undiagnosed ADHD brain to handle, but I looked at them with awe after watching movie adaptations. Misery is still my absolute favorite King story. Much later, when dating my now-spouse, I consumed fantasy and sci-fi books like they were candy (I’ve always had a sweet tooth). He opened so many worlds to me, including Stephen R. Donaldson (Mirror of Her Dreams), Tolkein, Orson Scott Card (The Ender Series), Terry Goodkind (The Sword of Truth until the last 3 books…DNF), George R.R. Martin (he knows what he did), Anne McCaffrey (Dragonriders of Pern), Edgar Rice Burroughs (The Barsoom Series), and Robert E. Howard (Conan the Barbarian). These authors strongly inspired my love of people stories.

What are you working on now?
Currently, I am working to relaunch my Between the Birches trilogy. Once the first two books are back on shelves, I’m finally sitting down to finish the story. It’s been ruminating since day one back in 2020 and has evolved into a challenge to bring my readers the epic ending they deserve. After that? I have a few projects lined up.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Promoting books is difficult on a good day, but the most success I’ve found is on Instagram. If I spent more time on TikTok, I’m sure my books would reach more readers, but I don’t know if I can spin anymore plates when I need my hands to write. With this relaunch, I’ve commissioned an author friend with mad marketing skills to work up a plan to maximize visibility. So far, it’s slow-going, but the world is on fire. People are busy.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up, write what you love, find your people. Your writing style is going to evolve over time. As long as you’re putting to paper something you love and enjoy, it’s gonna translate to your readers no matter how much it changes. Research the genre that fits your book, not what you WANT it to be. This will ensure you reach your target audience and receive the most positive reviews.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Have you heard of CritiqueMatch? In my early writing days, I used this site to find other authors to beta read my story. We’d swap the first six chapters and give each other feedback. This one guy told me that he hoped Beth (the FMC) got lost in the woods and eaten by a bear. While it wasn’t exactly advice, it was what I needed to hear. Beth wasn’t the only one with character growth since the third draft.

What are you reading now?
First of all, I’m in my ‘read all things cozy romance and smut’ phase because I’m hitting old-lady stride. Also, see previous footnote about ‘world on fire.’ Don’t judge. I’m currently reading ‘Prince of Wolves’ by Susan Krinard. Also, my hairdresser recommended ‘Keeper of Enchanted Rooms’ by Charlie N. Holmberg, so I’ve started it. Neither book has been read past 3% on my Kindle because my stubborn self insists on burning the candle at both ends.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Once I’ve completed my Between the Birches trilogy, I’m back to work on a contemporary spicy romance about a bookish nerd from the east coast who falls for a trans man who lives on the opposite coast. I’m consulting with a trans friend whom I met on TikTok on this project to bring authenticity to the LI. He’s very open and excited about the collaboration, so I can’t wait to restart after BtB. While this story won’t have the suspense or horror aspects I typically write, it incorporates two of my core beliefs: Love is love and happy endings exist. It’s going to be a fun book to write.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
No hesitation, my hardback copy of Stephen R. Donaldson’s “Mordant’s Need” because it has all 3 books in one; same goes for my copy of “Interview with the Vampire” by Anne Rice because I haven’t read it yet, but I’ve watched the movie adaptation several times; random pick…”Hatchet” by Gary Paulsen because it was a helluva book; and my spouse’s copy of Frank Herbert’s “Dune.”

Interview With Author Nathaniel Frost

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I write stories set in the dark, forgotten corners of history—where survival matters more than glory, and silence is often louder than swords. My focus is on mercenaries, spies, and irregular soldiers, men who operate in the shadows of empire and rebellion. I’m fascinated by the blunt mechanics of power, the wars within wars, and the decisions that never make it into history books.

The Phantom Courier is my debut novel, the first in what I hope will be a series of brutal, deeply researched historical thrillers set in periods of violent political transformation. I’m currently working on my next novel, continuing in the same vein of espionage, asymmetric warfare, and hard moral choices.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called The Phantom Courier. It’s a spy thriller set during the American Revolutionary War, told from the perspective of a lone dispatch rider carrying more than just messages. It was inspired by the lesser-known realities of that war—not the clean patriot myths, but the brutal uncertainty, the double agents, the betrayals, and the shadow conflicts that shaped outcomes more than battlefield lines.

I wanted to explore what it meant to fight without a banner, when the enemy isn’t always in uniform and loyalty is more dangerous than treason. The courier in the story isn’t a hero—he’s a survivor, a weapon, and a question mark. That’s what drew me in.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write late at night, usually after the world has gone quiet. There’s something about silence and fatigue that strips away everything superficial—it’s just the story and the weight of every decision the characters make. I don’t outline much. I build scenes around tension, risk, and consequence, then let the characters bleed their way forward.

Before I start a new chapter, I often reread battlefield reports, espionage manuals, or historical letters—not to copy them, but to absorb the mindset of men who lived with death and uncertainty every day. It’s less about habit and more about immersion.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve always been drawn to authors who don’t flinch—who write history not as myth, but as blood and consequence. Bernard Cornwell for his brutal clarity and battlefield realism. Robert Harris for his precision with political tension. Cormac McCarthy for his rhythm and silences. And Joseph Conrad, because he understood that every man who sails into darkness eventually sees himself.

I’m also influenced by historical records—letters from revolutionaries, field dispatches, even court transcripts. Real people say the most terrifying and revealing things when they think no one will read them two hundred years later.

What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m working on the next novel in the same world as The Phantom Courier. It will follow another shadow operative—this time deeper behind enemy lines, where the lines between cause and crime blur completely. The war widens, alliances shift, and the missions get bloodier.

Beyond that, I’m outlining a trilogy centered around mercenary warfare across collapsing empires, blending historical accuracy with asymmetrical tactics, betrayal, and power games. Each book will stand alone, but together they’ll trace the quiet wars that shaped history without ever being acknowledged by it.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve found that the best promotion isn’t flashy—it’s targeted and efficient. Platforms like Awesome Gang help get early visibility, especially during a free promo window. Beyond that, I focus on reader communities, not social media. Reddit, Goodreads, and historical fiction forums bring in readers who care more about the story than the packaging.

Ultimately, the book itself is the best promotion. If it grips someone, they talk about it. That’s what I write for.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write like nobody is coming to save you. Don’t wait for motivation, validation, or perfect conditions. Just write—every day if you can. Study how power moves through history, how fear shapes men, how silence speaks louder than speeches. And then tell the truth in fiction, even if it’s brutal.

Also, finish what you start. A finished book—flawed, raw, imperfect—is worth more than a dozen perfect outlines. You can sharpen a blade once it’s forged. But you can’t sharpen a blank page.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Write the book only you would survive.”

I don’t remember where I first heard it—maybe I made it up along the way—but it stuck. It means writing with scars, with memory, with weight. Not for applause, not for trends, but because something in you demands to be told, even if it costs you.

That kind of writing leaves a mark. And that’s the only kind worth doing.

What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading dispatches from the Continental Congress, some British court-martial transcripts, and a re-read of McCarthy’s The Crossing. I rotate between primary historical sources and fiction that reminds me how deep language can cut. It keeps my writing grounded in both fact and feeling—war in the bones, poetry in the blood.

What’s next for you as a writer?
More wars. Quieter heroes. Harder choices.

I’m building a long-form body of work—a series of interconnected historical novels rooted in espionage, betrayal, and survival across centuries. From the alleys of colonial cities to the frontlines of forgotten wars, I want to write stories where violence has weight, silence has meaning, and history doesn’t blink.

Each book will stand on its own. But if you read them all, you’ll start to see the pattern.

The Histories by Herodotus – because even in exile, a man should remember how empires rise and fall.
