A poignant and ultimately uplifting novel about overcoming loss and recognizing love.
A man she could never forget. A relationship that seared her heart and changed her forever. A friendship that has been her life raft for all these years.
Ashley Davis has had boyfriends and platonic male friends but somehow, she has ended up without a romantic relationship. She yearns to be in love. She can’t stop thinking about the man who was her best friend a decade ago. There was always something special between them but the connection ended when she married her fiancé. Now divorced, she reaches out to this man who has gone on to fame and fortune as a TV talk show host.
He responds and immediately she is plunged into a new relationship with him that leaves her head and her heart in confusion. She goes on an internal journey examining the stories she tells herself and uncovers secrets she has long buried.
Told through a sequence of stories, Playing Games With Boys is a captivating look at how those we’ve loved become a part of us. It reminds us that we are forever shaped by the memories of our past and that our stories are trying to tell us something.
