Interview With Author Praise Anyanwu
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Praise Ihechukwu Anyanwu, and at the time of writing this, I am almost 23. I have written one ‘proper’ book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Purple Flying Turtle: The New Edition.
This book was inspired by my first self-published short story which was originally supposed to be a children’s book, but when it didn’t sell (I guess I’m not a very good children’s author!), I decided to build upon it and turn it into a novella.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’ve realized that I write as if I’m editing a film.
Having filmed and edited short films for a long time (I even had a YouTube channel), I developed the habit of editing and including a lot of scene cuts in my work. I am also direct with my storytelling.
I was a bit surprised to see those patterns reflected in my writing while editing and proofreading my latest book.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Currently, I am hoping to secure a scholarship for my PhD.
