About Real Dad/Step Dad
It all happened so fast. I met the woman who would become my wife, then I met her kids, and then I met their dad. And then I got yoinked into a pointless, cold war-style confrontation with the guy as he pulled every dirty trick imaginable to remove me from their lives.
He failed because, while he was fighting me, I was teaching them about biases and logical fallacies. Where he was training them to fear me, I was teaching them about ethics and existentialism. When he was trying to turn their teachers against me, I was teaching them about operant conditioning and memetic theory.
This book is a collection of lessons I both learned and taught on my way to becoming a stepdad, including:
– Critical thinking skills,
– Interpreting body language,
– Dealing with bullies, and
– Joke writing (a skill that real dads really need!).
If you’re looking for a book about the process of becoming a stepparent, don’t buy this one. But if you’re looking for a book about the experience of becoming a stepparent, then this is definitely for you.

Jared Wynn spent his formative years in Latin America, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East as an expat and diplomatic dependent. After what felt like several lifetimes overseas, he returned to America to pursue a higher education while bouncing around between odd jobs. To date, he’s been a cook, a bouncer, a geophysical technician, a hypnotherapist, a Jujitsu instructor, and a standup comic, all of which he thinks makes him a better writer but which probably just makes him eccentric. He currently resides in Southern California with his wife and three stepkids.
