About Reality Barks by Kit James
A rescue dog faces the reality of his unusual new life.
A country mutt’s life is transformed when he’s rescued from the Dog Pound and adopted by four city slickers. One of them, adman Jamie, has conned the others into adopting the dog. Jamie’s secret objective is to make him a moneymaking animal star. He was never looking for a pet.
But wait. There’s something special Jamie doesn’t know about this dog. He can read auras and understand every word of human talk, and not just body language. And he’s got a wicked sense of humour too, but above all, he knows he’s got to win their love. Yes, the love of each and every one of them, but especially Jamie’s.
If he can become a TV dog star, Elliott need never fear being sent back to the Dog Pound. So with dogged determination, the feisty dog even trains himself to wink, with humorous results. But that’s not all, while trying to win the love of his new human pack, Elliott falls in love with Alison, a stunning Airedale Terrier, and befriends the dogs next door, Spike, a Tibetan Mastiff, and Mitzi, a snooty Standard Poodle.
Now called Elliott, his journey from mutt to megastar is full of challenges and surprises,
and laughs along the way, especially his swashbuckling role in the first TV ad he stars in
with Hedy, a glamorous Afghan Hound.
Reality Barks, Book 1 in the Mutt to Megastar series, is a humorous Australian rescue
dog’s tell-all tale about how he becomes a celebrity and wins the love of his humans.

I was born in England and came Down Under with my parents in the Seventies. Shortly afterwards, I was rescued by a stray dog. Dogs have been a big part of my life ever since.
Currently I live in wine country in regional Australia with my wife Kat and our dog Kaboodle.
I’ve written five books with a few more on the way. They’re all satirical comedy with a dark edge. There are three dog books, Reality Barks, Wagging the Dog and Three Dogs and a Wedding, featuring my hero rescue mutt Elliott… yep–that’s two LLs and two TTs, (one of his humans is in advertising and can’t spell).
The big E becomes a timeshare dog, which means he alternates between two Metro couples. Confusing? Yeah, but Elliott can handle it. He eventually finds out what’s going down and with his smarts and the help of his dog and cat buddies, he ends up making it in showbiz.
