SYNOPSIS: Ruthann Cooper can barely remember the dashing young pilot whose plane went down in flames over Nazi Germany. Having done her bit for the war effort in a munitions factory and with the knowledge that her fiancé isn’t coming home, she accepts employment as a third-grade teacher in a small south Texas town.
In one moment on the first day of school, the piercing blue eyes of the superintendent of schools changes her life forever. Gentle, artistic Drew Mallory, his own life derailed on a battlefield in the previous war, is beloved by faculty and students alike, but he considers his personal life over.
With a grown daughter who disapproves of her father moving on, and despite the twenty year difference in their ages, Drew and Ruthann begin a tenuous relationship. When it spawns a series of increasingly vicious attacks on Ruthann, she finds herself on the brink of another, more personal war.
Should she retreat for her own safety? Or can she do battle for the man she finds herself loving more than life?

Judy Nickles has been writing since she could hold a #2 pencil. Now happily retired, she is finally writing for publication. Ruthann’s War is her 5th book with The Wild Rose Press. She has two novellas with Solstice Publishing, several indie-pubbed books, and has been published in anthologies and magazines. An avid genealogist and solo traveler, she spends her at-home time writing around two rescue kitties–The Twinks and The Bun–and hanging out with her grandchildren. Being “vintage” herself, she enjoys writing vintage romance set in the 1930s and 1940s, as well as romantic suspense and cozy mystery. She is having her adolescent rebellion 50+ years late and likes to brag about her flight in a B-24 built the year she was born!
You can find her thoughts on writing and life, as well as some hopefully helpful links, three times a week at her blog, The Word Place, now on her website.
