Everything is calm in the neighborhood of the Baolas until one day little Tina is kidnapped. Her mother can’t face the crime, the reader is caught in her delirium in which she still hears Tina, brings her to school and is overwhelmed by the fear her kidnapper Mr. Hankins brings to her. All to the worse her man Carl gets sick and there is a thread he might loose his job but no one talks about it. They do not want to give up hope, sit nights with their friend who is a prostitute, call the police numberless times. We see how homeland security and police fail in catching Mr. Hankins who rapes Tina. The scenario is horror, it gets darker and darker until the outright says with sorrow that the dead will not whisper.
