Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I started writing later in life when the kids went off to college, leaving my husband and I empty-nesters. I have just finished writing my eighth book. I can’t imagine not writing – I’ve been doing it now for four years.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Unclaimed Regrets releases on Oct. 15th. I have always loved the idea of classmates coming together for their ten-year class reunion and, perhaps, old friends or first loves developing a new relationship. So…I wrote a book about it 🙂
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Probably the fact that I don’t use a storyboard or an outline. I have a beginning, middle, and an ending in my head and then I fill in the rest of the story as I write.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love the way Tarryn Fisher writes – her characters are brutally raw and real. Her true grit and honesty is something I find very refreshing.
What are you working on now?
I’ve just finished my first young reader’s book – targeting 4th-5th graders. Totally a 180 from what I write now (mostly contemporary romance).
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I haven’t found one yet – lol
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t worry about what other authors are doing. Just find your voice and be you.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write your first book. Then, your second. Keep going and don’t stop writing. The more books you have under your belt, the better chances you have at being noticed.
What are you reading now?
The Protector by Jodi Ellen Malpas
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to write a fiction book that appeals to the masses.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher
