About Symphony of Lies
“A network of wealth, secrets, and calculated manipulation.” — 5-star Readers’ Favorite Editorial Review
MOST INHERIT WEALTH. SOME INHERIT SECRETS WORTH KILLING FOR. Swiss investigative journalist Emma Bally is worn down by years of exposing elite corruption—and, at times, accepting the payments required to bury it. When she is unexpectedly named in the will of a wealthy acquaintance in Monaco, what appears to be an inheritance becomes an entry point into a closed system of power, influence, and carefully concealed deaths.
From the Swiss Alps to the French Riviera, Emma uncovers a pattern that forces her to question not only her benefactor, but the truth behind her own parents’ deaths. The inheritance was never a gift—it was a lure. As alliances shift and loyalties fracture, Emma realizes she has been drawn into a system that does not tolerate exposure. Survival here comes at a price few can afford.
A deliberate, quietly intensifying narrative, unfolding with restraint and elegance. In the tradition of Tana French and Patricia Highsmith, with the psychological tension of John le Carré, Paula Hawkins, and Robert Galbraith.

Maria Monday is the creator of the Emma Bally series, writing psychological mysteries that explore power, wealth, and moral compromise among the global elite.
Born in the United States and shaped by life in Switzerland, she later spent time in Monaco, where proximity to extreme wealth and influence informed much of her perspective. Alongside her writing, Maria Monday has worked as an interior decorator, an influence reflected in her precise, restrained narrative style and attention to atmosphere.
