About Radio 3 a short story
Every year, Gregory sets off early — timed to the minute, so a piece of music can carry him the whole way there. He’s been driving to the same building for decades, and not one person he’s ever met there suspects what he actually does once he arrives.
At thirteen, while everyone he knew was Disco or Punk, Gregory found something nobody else his age wanted: a record with a cello and a rock band on it, and a sound he had no name for. It never let go of him.
“Radio 3” follows one ordinary drive — motorway, traffic, the pull of a familiar broadcast — and the whole quiet life folded inside it: a first Prom on a six-pound ticket, a friendship built entirely out of strangers texting each other in the dark, a night an orchestra played an entire symphony from memory. And a devotion so complete that it turned, without anyone noticing, into something the whole country now depends on.
A story about the music that finds you when you’re young, the tribe you build out of the thing nobody else wants, and what it means to spend a lifetime making sure other people can hear it properly.
