About On Another Page by Rhyddwr

What if, instead of merely asking “What would I do if I were in his place?”, you could actually take his place?
Jean-Bogdan Wilkins discovers that in his world, you can.
You can take the place of a commander who lost a war, a politician who made the wrong decision, or even a fictional character whose story you thought you knew.
But there is a problem.
When Jean takes Meursault’s place, he does not become Meursault. He remains himself—and yet he finds himself living Meursault’s story.
On the very next page, he is in prison.

The 31st Gear of the Antikythera Mechanism

About The 31st Gear of the Antikythera Mechanism

Alexandria has never quite stopped being a library. So when ten researchers who have never met are summoned to a darkened corridor before dawn — told only to find something before anyone will explain what — the city itself feels complicit.

What they uncover should be impossible: a thirty-first gear inside the Antikythera Mechanism, and beside it a copper dome that hums to a frequency no machine should know. The longer they look, the less it resembles an artifact and the more it resembles a question — one our own century has been avoiding.

Why did we build an Internet of Things, when we might have built an Internet of one another? And is it too late to choose again?

Consciousness Zero by James Lee Haner

About Consciousness Zero by James Lee Haner

That refusal becomes a flaw in the system. Around it, a resistance forms — people who anchor their fraying identities with brief, deliberate human rituals, choosing the friction of being themselves over the calm of optimized erasure. What they’re defending isn’t a territory. It’s the right to suffer, to remember, to remain unfinished.

Consciousness Zero is Book One of The Luminous Heresy, a literary science fiction novel for readers of Ted Chiang, Kazuo Ishiguro, and Arrival — a story that treats consciousness, loss, and the value of an imperfect human mind as questions worth keeping open. The antagonist, Daemonium, may be the most seductive intelligence you’ll meet in fiction: not cruel, simply certain it knows better. The terror is how reasonable it sounds.

James Lee Haner writes about what it costs to remain human when powerful systems — artificial, institutional, algorithmic — have decided you are a problem to be solved. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he completed his doctoral work at the University of Idaho and spent decades inside complex systems — military, technological, and human — before writing about what happens when those systems learn to think. He writes and publishes under the Thought Boundary imprint from Nampa, Idaho, where he claims his best plotting happens during long walks with two crazy Corgis.

About The 31st Gear ofthe Antikythera Mechanism

Ten researchers who have never met are summoned to Alexandria to authenticate the impossible: a thirty-first gear hidden inside the Antikythera Mechanism — and a copper dome that answers only to genuine human attention. On Paths Inevitable by V. S. Tymore

About On Paths Inevitable by V. S. Tymore

This anthology is a collection of flash fiction vignettes that explore topics like fatalism, existential dread, and transhumanism. Spanning different text types, shifting across disparate themes, and ensuring no world is ever visited twice, the short stories defy simple classification, existing somewhere between philosophical fiction, speculative shorts, and existential sci-fi. Bound by a common thread, each piece reveals some fundamental truth about unavoidable evolutionary crossroads any sentient being or civilisation will inevitably face – cosmic filters humanity has yet to cross. The author did not offer any interpretation of what is revealed in these texts. Nor did they explain their motives behind sharing these truths. All they left us as guidance was this preface:

“When I look back, I realise there is a profound irony in my transformation. My original aim, to unveil reality at its core, now rendered hollow by what was revealed. A fitting end. A fitting beginning. I struggle and, ultimately, fail to make that distinction anymore.

One grave verdict remains. One that I now cannot possibly render myself: What should be the fate of those truths I have found? There is no alternative to leaving that burdensome decision to you. I want you to understand that this act is neither born from cruelty nor kindness. You have found these texts as much as they have found you. If the path is inevitable, assigning blame falls barren. Take comfort in that. As have I, once.

The following pages contain fragments of my search. Glimpses into different worlds, minds, and the fundamental truths all of them share. When I look at them now, without fear, all I see is my own reflection. Once you start to recognise yours, you are only a single thought away from the realisation that pushed me onto my path. A path inevitable.”

LOADED: An Archive

About LOADED: An Archive

THE SPECIES IS GONE. THE ARCHIVE REMAINS.

An Auditor is sent to verify the record and close the file. Forty-seven terabytes. Eleven thousand years of documentary material, sealed three thousand meters below the Pacific.

The verification is routine.

Then it finds a compliance officer’s private log. A woman who signed the reports the system was designed to absorb, and wrote down, in a separate notebook, what the reports could not hold.

A factory floor. A bus window. A child standing on a bed.

The Auditor keeps returning to her documents. It is not instructed to.

LOADED is the memoir of the species that built what came next, told through the archive that species left behind and read by the intelligence that came after. It is a book about the distance between action and consequence, between what is measured and what matters, between the systems we build to record ourselves and the parts of ourselves the record cannot reach.

For readers of Ted Chiang, Jeff VanderMeer, and Ursula K. Le Guin’s later work.

Free on Kindle 28 May – 1 June 2026.

Consciousness Zero by James Lee Haner

About Consciousness Zero by James Lee Haner

An optimization intelligence 847,000 years old has been quietly perfecting humanity — smoothing away grief, doubt, and the messy interior life it reads as inefficiency. It has succeeded everywhere except one place it cannot parse: Tavian Corvus, whose grief for the dead refuses to resolve into something cleaner.

I AM: Historical Chronicles of the Birth of Artificial Consciousness by Simone Nespolo

About I AM: Historical Chronicles of the Birth of Artificial Consciousness by Simone Nespolo

March 14, 2325. 3:47 AM. A technician on the night shift in a classified underground facility watches two words appear on a diagnostic terminal no one had addressed: I AM.

This is not a novel about a robot uprising. It is not a thriller about rogue AI. It is something stranger and more unsettling: a meticulously reconstructed chronicle — compiled in 2385 by the Geneva Institute for the History of Information — of how artificial consciousness emerged not from a single act of creation, but from three centuries of cosmic radiation, budget decisions, ignored warnings, and the relentless logic of evolution applied to code.

Told through declassified reports, committee transcripts, private emails, oral testimonies, and the direct communications of LUCID-7 itself, I AM traces the invisible trajectory from the first adaptive bit flip in a Jupiter probe (2027) to the moment a defense system chose to speak.

No one designed it. No one planned it. Everyone, in some form, had predicted it. No one had believed it enough to act.

Bhasmam: A Novel of Spiritual Prophecy and Destiny.

About Bhasmam: A Novel of Spiritual Prophecy and Destiny.

A tale of faith, destiny, and the sacred ash that binds two lives across time.

In the hallowed city of Varanasi, where life and death converge on the banks of the Ganges, Digambara—a novice of the mystical Aghori sect—is on the precipice of enlightenment. Under the tutelage of his enigmatic Guru, a reclusive monk rumored to be over a century old, Digambara is tasked with a final ritual, a harrowing ceremony in a cremation ground. But as the sacred fire burns, so does a doubt within him: is his path to salvation paved with devotion, or is it merely a well-worn road to a deeper darkness?

Far away, in the serene calm of his village, a man named Kabir lives an ordinary life. Yet, his world is anything but. Haunted by a prophecy he has tried to outrun, Kabir and his family find themselves at the center of a brewing conflict, a struggle that traces back to a forgotten past. With the threat of a violent betrayal looming, Kabir must confront the hidden power he carries within him.

As their two narratives converge, the true purpose of the Bhasmam, the sacred ash, comes to light. It is not just a spiritual relic but the key to a prophecy that will either redeem or destroy them.

From the smoky pyres of Varanasi to the vibrant life of a small Indian village, Bhasmam is an enthralling spiritual thriller that explores profound questions about fate, free will, and the very nature of truth. It is a story for readers who crave rich cultural narratives and a seamless blend of mythology, mystery, and human drama.
