Interview With Author Tara Eldana
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have published 15 romance novels and novellas, all spicy. I am an award-winning (retired) newspaper reporter and enjoy writing stories with happy endings.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest release is Brace for It, a spicy contemporary novella first published in an anthology entitled Heart of Summer. An ad for the Lock bracelet by Tiffany in a fashion magazine inspired Rick and Dori’s short and spicy HEA story.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write my first, rough draft in large letters on legal pads for at least a half hour each morning, hell or high water. Then I type it up on the computer.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
So many. My favorites are Cynthia Eden, L.J. Shen, Lynda Chance, Joanna Wylde, Sandra Marton, Katy Evan, Emily Henry, Diana Gabaldon, and Jojo Moyes to name a few.
What are you working on now?
An alien romance that’s been so much fun to write. More to come.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
BookBub Featured Deals, when you can get them. They are very competitive but really move the dial. I’ve hit number 1 bestseller in Amazon from those. Awesome Gang is pretty good, too because it reaches a targeted audience.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write what you love and grab joy when you can. Publishing has its ups and downs. The downs can be tough. So savor the good things.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
That nobody is successful without help.
What are you reading now?
Just finished (rereading) Reaper’s Legacy by Joanna Wylde. She’s also a a former newspaper reporter.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’d like to start a new series about alien romance.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, the Oxford Book of American Poetry, and The Big Book of Women Saints by Sarah Gallick (all on my bookshelves).
