About The Fourth Strand by M A R / 1 0
The Fourth Strand
“A visceral exploration of identity and motherhood set against a world where magic is a biological tax.”
The war was won, but the world is still bleeding.
For fifteen hundred years, the Talon Covenant kept humanity “sluggish” and content, a magical peace bought with a dragon’s sacrifice and a stolen future. Now, the Covenant is shattered. Across the continent of Monde, the “sluggish” are waking up to a reality they aren’t prepared for: a world where the ley lines are raw, the monsters are hungry, and the silence of the past has been replaced by a deafening magical pulse.
Two women. One soul. A debt they never asked to pay.
Shandar, the Mistress of Fire, was forged to be a weapon. Rika, the Astral traveler, was born to be a bridge. After a desperate merge to save the realm, the line between them has begun to dissolve. They are no longer just partners; they are an evolutionary unit. But the merge left a “tug” in their spirits, and a consequence in their bodies that defies every law of magic.
The Fourth Strand is coming.
As a “Hollow Vein” opens in the fabric of creation, Shandar and Rika realize their shared pregnancy isn’t just a biological miracle, it is a cosmic suture. The children they carry are the Fourth Strand, the final thread needed to tie the world back into the First Knot.
But there are those who fear a world “Un-Covenanted.” To the Heir and the remnants of the old order, the children are not saviors, they are anomalies to be harvested.
In a world waking from a fifteen-hundred-year sleep, the greatest fire isn’t found in the sky. It’s found in the marrow.
