About The Mola Mola
Amidst the fog enshrouded cliffs, the legends still whisper in the quaint fishing village of Little Lorraine. They tell of a boy-and a creature that came together in what could only be described as a miracle of nature.
It began early one May morning when a young boy left school to help his father fish off a formidable stretch of Nova Scotia coastline. A giant sunfish, (mola mola) of enormous proportions sunned itself on the surface that day, just outside the harbour entrance. Then, the unthinkable happened…. the boy fell overboard- yet no one noticed.
Normally, in an age when few people knew how to swim, when the deadly Atlantic wrapped itself around them, the story would end there… but not this day.
This is the boys’ personal story. The day his world changed when he came face to face with a huge creature of the deep…. the giant mola mola!

Author Bio:
Rob Girard was born in Lake Echo, Nova Scotia to a Royal Canadian Navy Clearance Diver, and an elementary school teacher.
He finds his inspiration in his love for all things ocean-related, and his love for story-telling.
The second of four siblings, as a child he was sent to a small fishing village in Cape Breton to help his grandfather as a fisherman.
It was in this small village, with its idyllic fishing culture, that Rob’s understanding of this culture-by-sea came to being.
Inspired by his grandfather’s many experiences and stories, Rob Girard is presently a fire captain, father of three boys, husband, and now, apparently, a storyteller.
He lives with his family near Halifax, Nova Scotia.
