Author Bio:
Héctor J. Martín has spent over a decade working at the intersection of language education, teacher training, and academic leadership — first in classrooms, and later building the systems that make good language teaching possible at scale.
He began his career teaching Spanish as a foreign language across all CEFR levels, working with learners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds at institutions including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, FU International Academy in Tenerife, and LAE Madrid and LETS Education in Madrid. That time in the classroom gave him a ground-level understanding of where adult learners get stuck — and why the advice most commonly given to them doesn't work nearly as well as it should.
From there, his career moved into teacher training and academic leadership. As Head of Teacher Training at LETS Education, he designed and delivered training programmes that supported over 200 language educators annually. As Academic Dean and later Campus Director at Geneva Business School's Madrid campus, he led faculty development, curriculum design, and quality assurance across an international academic environment. He currently serves as Academic Dean at BLC Spain.
Héctor holds a Master's degree in the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of Seville, graduate coursework in Methodology of Language Teaching from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor's degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He is also an Executive MBA graduate at Quantic School of Business and Technology.
He is a native Spanish speaker and holds a C2 level in English.
