Interview With Author Thomas Gloom
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a horror and history junkie.
I’ve written two novels, two novellas, four story collections (the 4th releases on April 8th, 2026), and have, most recently, had a short story published in PUNK goes HORROR II: Hardcore for the Encore (from Truborn Press).
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Potted Plant was based on a dream I had after seeing Little Shop of Horrors.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Lights off, John Carpenter soundtracks playing, and a candle lit.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King, Clive Barker, and Grady Hendrix.
What are you working on now?
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Instagram & TikTok can’t get beat when it comes to free promotion.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Perspective is immensely important. Focus on building a firm, strong foundation. The growth will be small at the start, but you’re building those roots to hold strong against the growth that will come later.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
During the editing process, read your work OUT LOUD.
