Interview With Author Tina Griffin
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Tina Griffin is a debut contemporary romance novelist. She sat down at work one day and typed out the first three chapters of her book, turning a spark of inspiration into a reality.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “The Weight of Secrets.” The inspiration struck me quite suddenly one day while I was at work. The characters and their emotional conflict hit me so clearly that I immediately sat down and typed out the first three chapters right then and there. I knew it was a story about love, hidden truths, and emotional resilience that I absolutely had to finish.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My writing habits are driven by pure inspiration. When a scene or an emotional breakthrough between my characters comes to mind, I have to capture it instantly, no matter where I am. Typing out those first three chapters while on the clock at work is proof that when the story calls, I answer!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am deeply influenced by contemporary romance authors who aren’t afraid to dive into the heavy, complex emotions of real relationships. I love books that focus on family secrets, emotional tension, and the journey it takes for two people to truly trust one another.
What are you working on now?
Right now, my main focus is completely dedicated to championing my debut novel and connecting with new readers who love a deeply emotional romance. I’m also working on making sure my second book From Distance to Daughter is released the end of 2026 beginning of 2027.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My best method has been grass-roots, personal outreach. I am incredibly proud to say that I have successfully gotten my books onto the physical shelves of local library systems across multiple states, including Kansas and Louisiana. Connecting directly with public library networks has been a safe, honest, and wonderful way to build a real reader foundation. I’m also promoting on my different platforms. Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Pintrest, and Instagram.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
The advice I would tell a new author is don’t give up, and definitely don’t compare your sales to other. There will be days that you want to give up but push through those tough days. Don’t let what anyone say discourage you. If you don’t have your social media set up already start now. It’s never to early to start talking and promoting your book. Even if you don’t have your thoughts mapped out. Still post about your book. Your words matter.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve embraced is to trust your instincts and protect your peace as an author. The publishing world has a lot of noise, but focusing on the heart of your story and connecting genuinely with places like libraries is what truly matters.
What are you reading now?
I am always diving into contemporary romance novels, constantly analyzing how other indie authors build emotional stakes and weave heart-tugging subplots together. I’m reading another book by another author called The Dress.
What’s next for you as a writer?
My goal is to continue expanding the digital footprint of “The Weight of Secrets.” I want to explore digital state library programs and independent book directories so that romance readers across the country can discover my work. Also having the continuous of The Weight of Secrets: A Narcotic Love Story. And I’m currently writing a book called The Price of Survival.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would definitely bring a romance books. Anything romance draws me in.
