Every night, Torian and his friends meet on the rooftops of the City. They risk capture to be together, to stare up at the night sky, to dream of the future.
Under the sinister grip of Maintenance, their planet has never been free. They have never walked on fresh soil. They have never felt the rain. All they know is the endless grinding of the City’s machinery, the choking vapours, the dull grey of buildings stretching forever around them.
Torian gazes at the moon and is haunted by a desire to escape. There must be more for him and his companions than this stark planet can offer. But Maintenance hunts for dissidents, controls the City’s air, and is always nearby, always watching.
