Author Bio:
Donn Eley grew up in America’s heartland, graduated from Indiana University and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 1966. He married Linda Koller in 1968, received an honorable discharge in 1970. He graduated from Kansas University in 1971 with an MBA degree and became a Certified Public Accountant employed by Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte & Touche) in Denver, Colorado. He resigned after 10 years and became a partner in Village Homes of Colorado in 1985. In 2003 Village Homes was named America’s Best Builder by Home Builder Magazine. Donn and Linda had 2 children, DeAnn and Brent. Brent was diagnosed with cancer in 1987, was treated at Children’s Hospital in Denver before being transferred to Children’s Hospital in Iowa City for a bone marrow transplant. He died on October 12, 1988. Donn and Linda created the Brent Eley Foundation in 1997 and opened the first Brent’s Place in 1998. Brent’s Place provides cost free housing and support for families facing life threatening disease who live more than 40 minutes away from Denver and who need housing and support for extended time periods. Brent’s Place served 344 families in 2022 and is continuing to grow. This book is about people helping people to overcome life threatening disease far from home.
