I am a wife and mother. I have 2 stepsons ages 18 and 17. I have three sons of my own ages 16, 15 and 11. Then I have 1 daughter age 20 months. I am also a grad student that is now all but dissertation. I feel really accomplished that I have finished all coursework and exams for my Doctor of Business Administration with a concentration in finance. Once I finish the dissertation part I am done after 10 years of being in school. So far as to my writing career, I have only published one book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
For the Love of a Centaur is the only book I have published so far. It is the first book in the Centaur Agency series. It was inspired by many crime books, crime shows and romance books that I have read. The scenes for the story just started running through my head the same a movie reel plays movie scenes. I finally broke down and decided to turn it into a published work of fiction.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to write anywhere that I am at. When at home I write what ever scene pops into my head at the moment. Later I will tie all the scenes together. If I am on the go I use the notepad feature of my cell phone and then when I get home I will type it up on my computer. If it ties in to an established part of the book I put it there. If it does not then I wait till I can tie it in.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Nora Roberts has inspired me to write. Several of the Love Inspired and Love Inspired Suspense novels have influenced me. Stephen King is another that has influenced me. Something about the darkness of his work, the depth of depravity we see in mankind in some of his works. I love taking my shadowy hitman and showing just how much he loves pain and suffering.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on the second book of the Centaur Agency series. In this book I am telling Stella’s story. She was a major part of book one but not a main character. I decided that it was important that her story get told.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use several websites. I have a facebook author page, twitter account and Goodreads account. I find them all three to be very helpful.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
First off, do not be afraid to put what you have to say on paper. It does not have to be very good. Just get it on paper. After you have written the rough draft, then you can edit it. You cannot however, edit a blank page. Also always use a professional editor and cover design artist before you publish.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I have ever heard was ” Mom you can do this. Don’t give up, just do what you want to do.”
What are you reading now?
Currently, I am not reading anything. I do have plans to grab up some more books from indie authors who are in the Kindle Unlimited program. I love reading any genre as long as the book is good.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Next for me is to get the second book in the series written, sent to my editor then revised and published. I do have plans after finishing up all four books in the series, to start a trilogy that I have been toying with.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Nora Robert’s Sign of Seven Trilogy. That is one of my favorite set of books. I have found that I can read them over and over again.
