What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is the third installment of my December book series. The book is inspired by office romances and the complications they present. I like to write stories that read as more reality than actual fiction. I want my characters to be real and relatable.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to write with as many distractions as possible. I like music playing, a movie on, and social media all going while I’m writing. The reason for this is that if I am writing something that is worth reading then all of those distractions will be drowned. Much like if I was a person reading a book then the book would have to be good enough to drown out all the distractions for me to continue reading.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My biggest influences include Harper Lee, Langston Hughes, Alice Walker, Nathan McCall, and James Baldwin.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a young adult novel which is centered in urban Los Angeles and focuses on interracial relationships and peer pressure. My inspiration for this novel is The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I like to tell as many people as possible about my books. I like to promote it across all social media.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write, write, write and continue to write but don’t forget that for each product you write you will also have to market. Bring the readers to you and place the books in places where they are accessible.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never Quit unless you suck and in that case quit yesterday.
What are you reading now?
The Alchemist
