Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a part time writer looking to make it into full time writing, the authorial dream as it were, and I just love telling stories that thrill, excite, and engage.
So far I’ve written one complete trilogy, one series of novellas, and one stand-alone novel.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
War-Sworn is the last book of the Warring Realm series and it like the rest of the series was inspired by a combination of things primarily my love for military history (both ancient and modern), as well as a deep desire to examine on some level how we humans deal with violence and the psychological nature of war.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love to listen to music in languages I don’t understand playing in the background. The sounds and rhythms of speech help drown out distractions and are pleasing to hear, but I don’t get caught up in the lyrics because I don’t actually know what they are saying.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
In no particular order: Tolkien, King, Lewis, Lawhead, Rice, Abnett, Martin, and Mitchell. Each has brought their own flavor, spice, and quirks, and I often feel like a child standing atop giants.
What are you working on now?
A dark fantasy series called centered around the adventures of a brother and sister in a twisted and savage simulacrum of 18th century Europe. The series is called the Kriegshund Chronicles.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Awesome Gang seems pretty sweet to me 😉
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Get used to criticism and productive waiting. Mastering those will see you well taken care of.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
What are you reading now?
The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice and Lost Gods by Brom
What’s next for you as a writer?
Hopefully kicking this thing into high gear and writing full time.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, the Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Holy Bible, and the Problem of Pain
