Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a born and raised Texan. I enjoy reading, writing, watching tv/movies and hanging out with my framily (Friends & Family). I’ve written two books and I’ve started two more.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled Destructive Bliss. It is book one of a series and was actually pitched to a serial novel website. It started as a serial novel and about half way through, I set a hard deadline and met it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I listen to different podcasts while writing. It helps keep me in the creative mode.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am in love with YA Fantasy. I enjoy all of Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl and Cassandra Clare’s work.
What are you working on now?
I’m writing a second novel to my first series, Southern Secrets. I also started to write my first (possible) non-fiction book.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am a big believer in social media. I use Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just keep writing. My first novel, Southern Secrets, took me three years to finish because I kept going back to rewrite it. My second novel, Destructive Bliss, took me three months because I refused to go back to edit myself until I was through with it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I think the best advice I’ve heard is “allow yourself to suck”. I heard it from the Self Publishing Podcast. That really put me into “work mode” and has helped me get two novels out this year with four in the pipeline for next year.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading both non-fiction and fiction. The non-fiction book I’m reading is “Becoming Beyonce” by J. Randy Taraborrelli. Anyone who knows me knows that I live for Beyonce (lol). The fiction book I’m currently reading is Marking Time by April White.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to continue to build my fan base and turn out great books in the next year. I hope to have a total of 6 books out by next year and a total of 12 by 2017.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d bring Becoming Beyonce (so I can continue to live, lol), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and City of Heavenly Fire.
