Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Adam Mann (which is a pen name) has worked for over 50 years in what is called “developing economies”. Most of the time his work has been with the thousands of small scale farmers, who have appreciated sustainable livelihoods, so that they now have enough food to feed themselves, and also some produce to sell so that they have a cash income. That is why most of Adam’s novels are set in these remote rural locations in Africa and for the last twenty five years in Asia.
Four years ago Adam finally retired and started writing and has now produced 38 fantasy romance books, ten of which have been traditionally published, and the others self-published at Smashwords and Amazon KDP.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Gorgeous at Forty
The story is loosely based on personal experience, with at lot of imagination added.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When I get the story in my head I just start writing, like 3,000 words a day. I use Excel to keep track of my characters and words written for each chapter.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve read about a lot of authors on Facebook, You Tube, and essentially Twitter.
What are you working on now?
I’ve just self-published on Pre-Order “Gorgeous at Forty” and am now working on a new Box Set for three of my love stories based in Asian locations, and with some characters actually Asians.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I don’t know. I’ve written a lot, and find Smashwords very helpful. Ten of my books are published by traditional eBook publishers, but they sell less than me.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
No.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just write and be damned.
What are you reading now?
Zulu Hart by Saul David.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Promoting my novels
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I wouldn’t, but if there’s space for 4 books, how about more useful things like a axe or machete, and a flint for fire lighting.
One of my books, published by Phaze Books, is BODY HEAT based on TV program “Survival” where characters are stranded in remote forest.
