Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am Alex, a new 21-year-old author from Romania. I currently have one published book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book is named “Philosophical Essays from Quarantine”. It was inspired by the works of the following philosophers: Marcus Aurelius, Bertrand Russell, Descartes, Francois de la Rochefoucauld and Michel de Montaigne.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I seem to be the most inspired early in the morning or late at night, so I try to schedule my writing accordingly. I never write without music, considering it is so useful in setting up the atmosphere and the right mindset.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
David Hume, Boethius, Aristotle and Ayn Rand to name just a few, but Marcus Aurelius is definitely my top pick.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a new book called “Affections”. It is going to be an odd mix of philosophy and romance.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am trying to network with as many people as possible, using Amazon and websites such as this one. I am way more interested in reader feedback than profit, so I share my book for free.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I do not think that I am qualified to give advice for new authors, considering I am one.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice for me has got to be to turn every negative experience into a lesson, no matter how hard it may seem at first.
What are you reading now?
Immanuel Kant’s Philosophy of Education.
What’s next for you as a writer?
My next goal as a writer is to publish my upcoming book “Affections”, hopefully by the end of the year if time allows.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Marcus Aurelius – Meditations
Ayn Rand – The Virtue of Selfishness
Bertrand Russell – The Conquest of Happiness
