About AFTERNIGHT by CHRISTIAN HEINDL
AFTERNIGHT
Beyond the darkness of the night,
Beyond the evil and the fear,
Lies the Afternight.
In 1897, Inspector Ryman Rogue of Canada’s North West Mounted Police travels to Sabbath, England to bury his younger brother, Locke, who died under mysterious circumstances.
Digging deeper into the tragic death, Ryman discovers that some of the residents hold a pact with a child-stealing spectre haunting the local moors. They supply her with fresh victims in exchange for leaving them alone.
Ryman’s eventual confrontation with this demon sees her slain and introduces him to the Afternight, a realm beyond the natural world. Soon after, he meets the Guardians, a group of humans and talking animals dedicated to protecting the earth from the Afternight scourge.
Summoned to Germany to tend to his ailing grandfather, Ryman’s journey is plagued by Afternight horrors he could never imagine, including demonic hounds, subterranean creatures and sinister witches. But his encounters with this realm doesn’t stop there, for it also sends him spiralling through time where he encounters Jack the Ripper and finds himself prisoner in a Nazi death camp during World War Two.
Ryman ultimately arrives at his grandfather’s farm, having barely survived the journey. While he recovers from his wounds, he learns a shocking family secret: his grandfather is one of the leaders of the Guardians, known as a Master Guardian. Is Ryman destined to become one? Or can he live a normal life? The question is cast aside when he learns the forced of evil targets his family back in Canada.
With his grandfather’s help and Guardian magic, he traverses the very fabric of space and arrives back home in a matter of minutes. There he battles and kills a Master Demon to save his family.
Ryman realizes he is not the same man he was leaving Canada three months earlier; he is no ordinary man and accepts his destiny. Destroying a Master Demon is rare as they are powerful and the evil equivalent of a Master Guardian. His grandfather honours Ryman’s bravery and skills by appointing him protector and guardian of the earth.
He becomes Ryman Rogue, Master Guardian.
But he also knows that the realm known as the Afternight is still out there, waiting for him.

Author Bio:
I am a retired insurance Adjuster living North Bay, Ontario with my wife, Maria. I also have a married son. It’s hard to believe that I have been writing horror and psychological thrillers my entire life.
Aside from writing short stories as a kid, I wrote my first novel when I was 15, a sequel to my all time favourite novel, DRACULA. I had no job at the time so a novel seemed like a good way to spend my time. My parents didn’t know what to make of it. Back then, there were no computers or cell phones, so it was hand written and 393 pages long. When my girlfriend then, wife now, typed it out for me on a manual typewriter, it was reduced to 201 pages. I still have this treasured work.
Since then I graduated to computers and wrote an additional seven novels over the years. In my younger days I also taught a CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario. At one time, I was also a member of a Writer’s Guild in Sudbury and North Bay.
Over the years, I’ve also had numerous short stories and a novella published. I then had AFTERNIGHT published on AMAZON. Initially I conceived AFTERNIGHT as a trilogy, but that never really happened, although I did complete an unpublished sequel entitled, MASTER GUARDIAN.
I’ve always loved writing the supernatural as well as watching horror movies. My brothers are the same way, although I’m the only author among them. I do it to entertain myself with stories I think I would love to read as a reader and to hopefully entertain anyone who wanted to read my work.
I’ve always loved the creative process of writing, not so much the business end of trying to get them published which I have neglected over the years. They are like my children and as such, I hate to part with them. I’ve always written my novels in remote locations, real or imaginary, in Northern Ontario where anything can happen. With AFTERNIGHT, I broke away from the norm and decided to do something different and write a Gothic horror novel
My latest endeavour is entitled LUNAR MIST. This time I wanted to go even further with the idea of remoteness and set the story in the arctic. A climate research station called LUNAR MIST discovers an ancient artifact that contains the remains of a demonic creature straight out of Greek mythology. It took me about seven years to write this one.
