Interview With Author Aida Mestour
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my first novel. It is the first of a 3 parts fantasy saga.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Layla and the Golden Flower was inspired by its characters and world development.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes, I always start writing as if it was a film and then develop more and more the world, the characters and the story.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My biggest influence is without a doubt J. K. Rowling. She sparked the love of literature for sure and has been my idol ever since.
What are you working on now?
I am working on the second part of The Golden Flower Saga.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far, not sure. I am still trying out websites since the book just came out. I didn’t have time yet to assess what was the most optimal results. It’s too early to tell.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes, always start with an outline and don’t worry about the quality of the first draft. Get out of your own head and put it all on paper first. Once you see it, you can change and improve it as you go.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just write, don’t overthink the first draft, it will be bad anyway.
What are you reading now?
I am taking a reading break as I’m in the process of writing book 2 and don’t like to have other author’s voices in my head during the process.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Book 2: Aezra and the Broken Kingdom.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
